I was originally looking at the standard line of Best Buy receivers, but in further discussions with one of their Expert Audio Specialists we drifted into the Magnolia section. For what amount to $50 more, I purchased this receiver with way more functions and expand ability. I could not have been happier with the decision. Not only does it do what I needed with 4K pass through to my Sony 4K TV, it has extreme customization from label inputs to mixing and matching video and audio outputs, it has ARC control with my TV and performs flawlessly in sync. I have hard wired my unit to the network, but be sure to still install the antenna, as the instructions are not clear that you still need the antenna for the Airplay functionality to work properly. They lead you to believe that unless you are setting it up with a wireless network, you do not need the antenna. Many, many settings that I have not yet fully explored will keep me happy well into the future as I expect to use this receiver for the next 7-10 years as it should suit my needs until the next technology comes along. The Magnolia option was also a better choice as the Yamaha has upgraded circuitry in these models versus the standard, and all for a only a small increase in cost. It is well worth it. Hopefully you will be lucky enough to have an Associate at Best Buy as knowledgeable as I had, but either way, be sure to ask as many questions as you can, about anything and everything. For me, over an hour on just this unit, and not once did I feel that the Associate did not want to spend the time with me or continue to share his knowledge. Best Buy, keep training and retaining your Associates like Jacob Foster. A real pleasure to work with and learn from. The SOLE reason why I purchased what I purchased, and have no regrets.

The only thing this reciever lacks in my opinion is Hd Radio, which isnt a deal breaker! Built in wifi, multi zone, and so on! If looking for a reciever for under 700.00 this Yamaha is a no brainer! Pandora, usb drive, and ipod touch sound great on this reciever... Im using it to power 7.2 in my theater, and a 2nd Zone of stereo speakers outside! The Yamaha controll App is amazing as well!

Bought an out of the box item . This replaced an older Onkyo receiver that worked fine but when i got my new 4K TV it had a little problem passing the signal. I would get a sort of snow on the screen for a bit and then it would come on. So far this unit up-scales and switches easily from the TV's built in Netflix and Blu Ray and the Comcast box and Apple TV

My previous ous Yamaha lasted 14 years with no problems. Decided to buy a new system this weekend. I bought the Yamaha RX a470 model. It is amazing. Set up was a breeze. On screen icons and intuitive operations are great. The sound is awesome. The box looks great; very sleek. I highly recommend.

The system was difficult to "tune in" but after some trial and error I was able to get it dialed in properly. The included mic for auto programming is insufficient. I recommend getting a measuring tape and programming in the actual speaker distances.
