An excellent sub woofer. However, if using with an amp with surround sound and as a surround sound sub woofer, its volume can be unpleasantly reduced unless care is taken when setting up the surround sound to adjust the volume on the back of the sub woofer so the surround sound system gets it right.

I'm using this sub as part of a 5.1 surround in a medium sized family room. It's got plenty of bass for music and movie sound tracks with explosions etc.. It does a very good job for its size and price.

The best things about this is that the sound is good, but not overwhelming. I want to hear everything else too! Looks cool. I picked this because I wanted something smaller than my broken cambridge soundworks bass cube. This one fits nicely behind the TV in the corner. What kinds sucks pond water is that is does not have an auto power down like the camb did, and I almost always forget to turn it off. Will have to pick up a smart power strip to shut it down automatically...

I had a Yamaha Receiver and updated with a 4K Pioneer Receiver for my new television. I did not want to toss out the Yamaha receiver so I am using it in a different room and needed a sub woofer because the original JBL sub woofer is connected to the 4K receiver. Since it is a Yamaha receiver I thought this would work well with it and it does. Good bass and makes the receiver sound great. One plus is that it came with a sub woofer cable that is about 20 feet long and it works great with the Sub woofer. All in all a very good sub woofer for my 20 x 25 room.

Nice size ... big voice ... room filling presence ... easily controlled for the genre of music ... reasonable price ... and it actually does what YAMAHA says it will do. I own and primarily use a small bookshelf Onkyo system which allows me to simply plug in my ipod, play cd's or tap into any line input ... the amp has a "mega-base" switch, but fails to provide that deep richness & fullness either for TV, movies, or a quality music experience. This little, but significant subwoofer does the trick with elegance & style. Good job Yamaha : ) Shop around ... should be able to pick one upon sale for less than the C-note I paid for it.

Very pleased with my purchase. Had to replace my subwoofer in my theatre room when it stopped working. It doesn't have the thundering impact of my old unit but does a great job for the price. Great sound quality and I hope this one will last.

Easy hookup, easy setup and the sound is fantastic with a lot of room to get louder if needed. It's a fantastic sub and I'm glad I got it.

Sounds great all the time... never turns off... even at low volume sounds great... when you crank it up the house vibrates.

I bought this sub to replace a 12 inch. It actually put out a great response. I have to turn it down so people in the house can sleep. It can be felt throughout the house if you turn it up a little. Great sound for small box and good price.

Bought this unit for my first audio receiver setup and so far I'm loving it! Paid $99 and it's been worth every penny.

Did not need a big high priced subwoofer for the bedroom.Sounds great just right for a small room.

I purchased this subwoofer to augment the sound quality of a surround sound system in a small home office. The room is about the size of a typical children's bedroom. It is working alongside a pair of high-end Paradigm tower speakers for the front speakers, connected to a Yamaha AV receiver. I would say it performs "adequately" but it does not produce low frequencies that you "feel in your bones." I also think the Paradigms produce almost as much bass as this subwoofer, so it did not add much to the experience. My expectations were probably too high since my main home theater room has a 10" powered Velodyne subwoofer that will rattle your teeth.

Really like how this item works and gives a nice deep bass very worth it.

Much better then cheaper brands that cost a lot more. Yamaha always has excellent products.
