The pink panther is confused and so am I.
Why this is a flagship model audio divise and it performing like a middle of the class audio devise. The video section is good as you can see from others. The main focus for this device is giving great sound, which it does not if one is using digital such as using Tidal, Audio files I use FLAC at 48KHZ. Critical pyschoacoustical information is missing therefore making the presentation smeared. To hear the quieter things the unit needs to be turned up making louder sections louder then needed which can be bothersome to others.
It will make the sound of the music seem strangely different due the poor utilization of the DAC. Which is Strange since this is suppose to make this unit a leading edge technology by Yamaha.
The one thing that helps with the sound in a strange way is the DSP can help give the sound stage a better feel. So Try the different settings.
I would suggest entering in Denon AXR-3600H as a better choice at this price point.

This model is the start of one of three. 1080, 2080, + 3080. I guess pending on what speakers you will have would require additional power, like the 3080. But cost Factor kind of hinders the purchase.
I believe Yamaha has the best power rating for the dollar. I guess it's preference on the manufacturer you like, or had in the past. This is my first Yamaha. I've owned Pioneer, Technics and Marantz.
Waiting on my Center Channel, haven't hooked anything up as of yet.

I got it to replace a Denon AVR-920 that had a bad channel (SL would loose all its volume after about 24 he’s) and the clarity of sound through this unit is just amazing. Professional sound quality

This is a high end receiver and is not simple to install and configure if you are a novice. I would recommend that you have an AV pro configure and install the system for you.

Great receiver, except that it can have 'Handshake' problems with some LG TV's Receiving HDCP 2.2 error only sometimes, swapped out all cables still the same problem. Tried it on a new (15 month old) Samsung Qled, no problems. LG tech said some of their OLED have this problem. Brought this back to Best buy and got a Denon AVR-3600x no problems at all.
