Day 1 was confusing. I read and read all the manuals. I set up all my components through my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Android app. I used the 4K inputs. But wait, I am confused. I have never owned a receiver of this caliber. Day 2, life is becoming more familiar. The sound takes my breath away. All components now set up. Logitech Harmony Ultimate programmed. I love this receiver! The detail, the clarity, the colors and of course the fullness of the sound. The huge JBL subwoofer working in perfect position. The Paradigm towers, center and surround come alive. I found it! The audiophile AV receiver that can take me into the future. The future is now. Thank you Yamaha. Thank you for bringing me back to my youth. Flawless operation. Not for the faint of heart. Not for non audiophiles. Setup is complicated and operation takes much thought. I love this challenge! For me. I love how precise playback is! Big Boi is in my living room, playing just for me.

I have Denon and Yamaha receivers in my home but this one is best! Though it is a very advanced piece of audio equipment it is very easy to operate. The speakers literally set themselves up with the YPAO microphone. I have my sound decode set to auto and it adjust to whatever dolby processing is recorded on the blu ray disc or audio disc. The only questionable feature that this receiver has is the large amount of sound fields. I don't know anyone who will be changing the sound fields as they listen to different musical sources. This is a great receiver!

Both HT and music sounds great. Love the Bluetooth, WI-FI and airplay. Set up was easy, the manual set up worked best for me. I can't wait to try music cast. A pair of speakers seem rather on the expensive side $799.

I did a ton of research before purchasing this unit. It is one of the few units that permits routing of any analog or digital input to zone 2, which was something I really wanted. The unit has all the features and functions I wanted, meets my audio and video needs very well, including Internet based content, and is generally easy to set up. As with any device with the broad range of features this one has, some setup steps can be difficult to figure out, but the provided manual (pdf form) is very good and detailed. I believe this unit will continue to meet all my needs and serve me well for many years to come, based on my past experience with Yamaha electronics.

Very happy with this receiver. I wanted to add Dolby Atmos to my home theater and this receiver delivers! Easy to install and set up, the YPAO sound measurement really makes the most of the theater's speakers. I also like that the receiver has wifi and bluetooth configurations. Yamaha makes a great product.

I'm starting my main home theater and chose this receiver based on brand reputation. I was very satisfied with the implementation of the HDMI-CEC and the compatibility with my other devices (Sharp TV, ROKU 4). I have the receiver completely out of sight and can control everything I need. The volume and inputs control flawlessly with HDMI-CEC, any advanced settings are easily changed with the Yamaha AV Controller app via iOS or Fire devices.

This is my first Yamaha receiver Coming from pioneer elete.This Yamaha blows pioneer out of the water,It has tons of features It's so easy to setup.The sound for audio/video is spectacular!! I've had this receiver for a month now it has plenty of power. The remote is good,but I use the harmony elete and it makes a world of difference.If you want a good receiver than get this one.

My 8yr old receiver crashed and burned to the ground on me. I needed a replacement and after reading many reviews I landed on this one and it did not disappoint. I am powering a 5 speaker paradigm setup and using the 2nd zone for my outdoor speakers, Martin Logans. It has more then enough power for my set up. Speaking of set up it was a breeze. Walked me right through the set up for my space by using the app on my iPhone. Speaking of iPhone I am controlling the 2nd zone with it so when I am outside I can choose from a variety of music sources via my phone. Speaking of music sources this has preloaded Spotify, Pandora,xm radio and other ones that I don't use. All in all I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone.

Ok, this receiver is worth the price after looking at numerous units among them Pioneer elite, Maranta and Nad. It has the most extras to make it future proof at least for a few years, Dolby atmos ,HCCP compliant etc, but the sound brought my Kef Speakers alive with new clarity that I hadn't heard before with my pioneer Vsx 1123 Everything set up easy and the gui was great compared to the old text style. Bluetooth works great and sounds fantastic ,streaming Pandora,Spotify,Amazon and I heart radio Best purchase I made since my rx1500 Yamaha buy 10 Years ago

Yamaha has again created and built a great product. This device takes care of all of my needs for home surround sound. Great wifi connectivity and inputs.

Love the receiver. ...but the salesman was what sold it...he knew the equipment...super nice.. Had an onkyo..3rd one...tired of boards burning out...love the switch to yamaha. ..

I decided to upgrade my system from a Sony that did not fit my needs. I had had a Yamaha before and was extremely happy with it. This current unit has more features than one will ever use. My main reason for the purchase was that I could no longer position surround speakers behind the viewing area. This unit has virtual surround which sounds great. I would recommend that one check this out before making an AV receiver purchase.

This receiver is excellent in terms of sound quality and features. I compared several brands and models in Magnolia and liked the Yamaha receivers best. Brand choice is a personal preference, but the Aventage models provide a lot of power and good sound quality. This model supports Atmos and has 7 channels for 7.1 or 5.1.2 sound. The higher models support 9 and 11 channels, but 7 is good for my needs. You really can't go wrong with Yamaha Aventage receivers.

Awesome sound system and pricing not too bad either.

My install experience was a no brainer for the external cables. My experience configuring the unit was another thing altogether. As I have a 5.1 system with external mono blocs, the configuration had to be done manually, versus having an auto setup work. I found, once the pain of manual configuration was completed, the system seemed to work extremely well. The audio is very good compared to my previous receiver. The dialog is finally easy to understand through my center channel speakers. The only problem I haven't been able to identify, yet is the audio goes away after I turn on the receiver after 5 seconds. I have to switch to a different input and then switch back to get the sound to stay on for the rest of the time. It has something to do with analog that I haven't figured out. The interface reads Analog vs. Dolby Digital or other applicable interface after the first 5 seconds of being turned on. This is more of a nuisance than anything else right now.

I've only owned Denon receivers before I purchased this Yamaha. I was reluctant to switch but I'm glad I did. The setup is a breeze and the sound quality is top notch. The Yamaha app is leagues above the competitors, you can do anything and everything with it including controlling HDMI devices such as the PlayStation 4.

It's a real powerful and great product. Tried different receivers within the same price range and wouldn't get the power and sound crispness that I get from Yamaha.

Of course, the quality of sound depends on your speakers, but doing the surround set up was really quick and simple. Just connect the mic and let the system do the rest.

I purchased this receiver to upgrade from a 16 year old Yamaha receiver that recently quit working.I loved my old YAMAHA model HTR-5590 so I decided to go with YAMAHA again. So far I am very impressed with this new unit as well. It has everything I need in a receiver.
