The Yamaha AV receiver is an excellent choice for the price. This is my second one as I have the 7.2 controller the main section of the house and this one the 5.2 in the theater room. I highly recommend this unit as it has multiple functions. Not only is it a great receiver but has Bluetooth capabilities and control through the muisccast app. I can sync the units together and be able to control the whole house and different zones with the use of my phone. In addition, I have this controlling my video wall with the use of 1 button. The sleek look and easy controls makes it perfect for any room whether it is hidden or exposed. I have my firestick and ps5 running through this unit and converting video to a 2x2 video wall and audio to a 5.1 surround sound! You will not be disappointed with this unit!

    Best product on the market

This is hands down the best value on the market right now if you want airplay / google home + surround sound. At $350 vs a Bose or Sonos stereo receiver for $600, it beats these products in every category other than size - the Yamaha is a standard sized av receiver. I have bought 4 of them for my house and will probably buy at least 2 more. Fit well in AV rack systems.

Nowadays, all avr's are pretty straight forward. This one is no different. Using it for an outdoor setup to power a set of large towers in the garage and zone 2 for the backyard to Def tech aw6500's. It's an awesome pairing. Hdmi seems to be fine but have done 0 gaming on this setup. Music cast app is great for handling the receivers settings and using it as a streamer. Overall great AVR for simple setups with easy / smaller speakers.

Great Receiver !! Over the yeara i have had many receivers but this one has all the bells and whistles you need for endless entertainment. My favorit is the controller on my ipad with Musicast. Control everything and configuring anything from the ipad in an easy to use UI. Clear and crisp sound at higher DBs.

I’m very happy with my Yamaha RX-V4A receiver. I love being able to control it with the app. My cabinet is built into the wall, and controlling without having to keep the door open was important. The auto- sensing between TV inputs is seamless. The set up was simple and easy, and it sounds great.

Great value for the price. I'm running Paradigm speakers and a Definitive Technologies sub - this receiver definitely gets the most out of them. The Yamaha app is useful and easy to operate. Also integrated nicely with my Google Home setup. Great receiver, highly recommend

Having the ability to pass 4K through the receiver has really simplified the cable setup. The design is sleek and modern and the display has multiple brightness settings for minimal distraction from movies. My biggest gripe is the lag in the on screen menu selections. Also, changing the display to show the audio format was on the receiver and not on the remote or menu, which took forever to figure out. Wish there were more watts but an excellent product.

One of the best receivers I’ve ever used, and I got it open box!! Has perfect HDMI CEC control and seems to be less fussy about cable quality than my old Sony one was. Xbox Series S and X both have excellent support for its feature set and they both work well together. Airplay works great (but only for audio, for video you’ll need an Apple TV) and the MusicCast app is one of the better “manufacturer specific” apps I’ve seen for an AV product!

Here’s the skinny, this Yamaha was rated really high on Crutchfields website. So giving it 4 stars because the first one I purchased didn’t work and had to be returned and BB was great about getting me one sent to the house overnight… so far the replacement is working great and setup was a breeze . 80watts off power seems to be workable as my old Sony was 100 watts and seemed to have just a little more punch!! With all the latest gaming systems I need the 120hz compatibility, the gaming systems switch flawlessly after a Yamaha firmware update. Wish it worked perfect the first time i would of gave it 5 stars . But for a 5.2 system it rocks the walls and shakes the earth when pushed .. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again it’s a simple receiver to use and sounds great !!!

Nice crisp sound, better than my previous Yamaha. Also, for some reason, lightning does not seem to cause the Rocketfish surround sound transmitter to go out as it did before.

Purchased this receiver the other day. Setup was super easy. The sound is amazing, especially in a movie like Greyhound. But there is serious color banding issues in HDR content. The best way I have found to test color banding is with Apple TV +. See season 1 episode 1, the opening scene with the skyline and sun light. The banding is god awful, making it nearly unwatchable. Another way to test is with amazon prime. The Boys, season 2 last episode at around the 41:32 mark. Again, the sky to the left (viewers right) of Stormfront is a mess. Really bad color banding. I have uploaded pictures of this one. Took with an iPhone, so it might be a little hard to see at first. It looks worse in person. I didn’t take a picture of the color banding from See as that was found a few hours later and I was just disgusted by then. I have spent hours testing different settings, but the result is the same. In SDR it seems to run good from what I can tell so far. But I didn’t buy this for SDR. I don’t know if this is a firmware issue or a hardware issue, but it’s something Yahama needs to fix immediately. This is not what I paid for. Once I talk to Yamaha, I will make the decision on rather to return the receiver or keep onto it. But as it stands right now, I cannot recommend this receiver at all.

I was replacing a six-year-old Yamaha receiver with this one to gain support of some of the latest video features that were not supported by my old receiver, specifically HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. My initial setup was quite easy as I simply unplugged the speakers and HDMI inputs from my old Yamaha, and then I plugged them into this new Yamaha. I did not use the YPAO, as my system is in a small loft, and I knew what I wanted. My old receiver had scene capability, but I had never used it. After reading about it, I set up scenes to make input switching easier with the individual settings I chose for each input. Everything worked seamlessly. However, please be aware I am not a gamer, and I had no need for 4K/120 Hz. I only have a 5.1 setup. I also have not used MusicCast. This receiver upgrade improved both my sound and my video. What's good about this receiver? The features for the price are good if you only need 5.1 (or 5.2). What's bad about this receiver? I hate the tiny display. It is impossible to read from across my very small loft (about eight feet away). You simply must set up the scenes and use them with "blind trust." I wanted a Yamaha RX-V6A, I just did not want to pay for it for my limited needs. If you have a larger room, want great 7.1 sound with Dolby Atmos, and you have the cash, I recommend buying the RX-V6A instead.
