Q: Any update on the Xbox Series x 120hz issue?
A: No update, currently the HDMI 2.1 issue has NOT been resolved and the way things are looking... it may never be fixed properly. It's been over a year and the hdmi 2.1 issues haven't been fixed, so not a good sign there and Yamaha is dead silent on the issue. Their current "fix" if you even want to call it that is to plug the console directly into a 4K/120hz display and use eARC to send audio back to receiver. For me this defeats the purpose of even spending the money on or buying a HDMI 2.1 receiver however. So it's not a fix. It's a work around that isn't acceptable imo when a company is selling and advertising their product as HDMI 2.1. I'm still holding out for a proper solution before i even consider buying any HDMI 2.1 receiver at this point... looks like 2021 models are using the same chip as well. Which means if no software fix is discovered.... we won't have a proper HDMI 2.1 receiver until 2022 at the earliest.
Q: How many watts a channel or total watts does this receiver make. Thanks
A: 80 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.06% THD, with 2 channels driven

The Yamaha AV receiver is an excellent choice for the price. This is my second one as I have the 7.2 controller the main section of the house and this one the 5.2 in the theater room. I highly recommend this unit as it has multiple functions. Not only is it a great receiver but has Bluetooth capabilities and control through the muisccast app. I can sync the units together and be able to control the whole house and different zones with the use of my phone. In addition, I have this controlling my video wall with the use of 1 button. The sleek look and easy controls makes it perfect for any room whether it is hidden or exposed. I have my firestick and ps5 running through this unit and converting video to a 2x2 video wall and audio to a 5.1 surround sound! You will not be disappointed with this unit!

Nowadays, all avr's are pretty straight forward. This one is no different. Using it for an outdoor setup to power a set of large towers in the garage and zone 2 for the backyard to Def tech aw6500's. It's an awesome pairing. Hdmi seems to be fine but have done 0 gaming on this setup. Music cast app is great for handling the receivers settings and using it as a streamer. Overall great AVR for simple setups with easy / smaller speakers.

Here’s the skinny, this Yamaha was rated really high on Crutchfields website. So giving it 4 stars because the first one I purchased didn’t work and had to be returned and BB was great about getting me one sent to the house overnight… so far the replacement is working great and setup was a breeze . 80watts off power seems to be workable as my old Sony was 100 watts and seemed to have just a little more punch!! With all the latest gaming systems I need the 120hz compatibility, the gaming systems switch flawlessly after a Yamaha firmware update. Wish it worked perfect the first time i would of gave it 5 stars . But for a 5.2 system it rocks the walls and shakes the earth when pushed .. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again it’s a simple receiver to use and sounds great !!!
