Rx-v6a
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Yamaha Rx-v6a on a open box sale. I loved how my music sounded and was happy with watching movies. I put on Top gun with atmos and every time the jets flew overhead the ceiling speakers would crack and no sound would come out of any speakers. I googled the problem and there were alot of complaints on this issue with the Rx-v6a. I returned the reciever and purchased the Sony Str an1000. I did not like the sound from the Sony compared to the Yamaha. The bass was over powering and you could tell it was coming from the subwoofer ( not matched with the speakers). Thanks to Best buy's return policy, I returned the Sony and upgraded to the Onkyo RZ50. I now have no buyers remorse and am happy with the sound. I also can now upgrade to 5.2.4 and have the option of 7.2.4 If you are looking for a Receiver to mostly play music thia is a great choice.

Decent Receiver.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this open box on sale, works pretty well and it sounds great, Yamaha has some issues with these receivers but so far none with mine. It could use more power but that's to be expected in this price range.

YAMAHA FAN
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really liking this receiver. It replaced my Yamaha 675, time for an upgrade like with all electronics. My 675 had separate buttons for HDMI source options, this control doesn’t. It also had picture icons for set-up and management, which was fun and easier for me to understand. I still love it. I can bi-amp my Klipsch speakers and play with Dolby Atmos. Oh boy.

Just what we needed
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Are old home audio system broke, and the only way to have it just did was to hire a technician because of the brand. So we went into Best Buy and spoke to a well informed worker who helped us pick out an affordable yet very effective replacement system. It does exactly what we had hoped it would, and more.

An Excellent Purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great receiver...easy to setup...and plenty of ports for speakers. We have paired it with a Samsung Frame TV and some Bose Accustimass surround sound speakers. Wow....I hid my head under a pillow for some of the scenes in "Bourne". We still need to get the MusicCast app working...I've just started to set it up. Another remaining task is to tie it in with our Amazon Echo. All that stuff is great....but it is the sound quality that makes this receiver Excellent!

HDMI problem
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver to replace an older Yamaha that I had for 10 Years. Right out of the box, this receiver sounded great. Clear, crisp detailed sound especially from games and movies. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks I started having HDMI issues and had to return it

Big sound, small price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good looks. Great sound. Easy to set up and switch between sources. GUI could be a bit better. Don't worry about a small display; between that and the TV screen, you can see all you need to see. I bought this after my Onkyo TX-NR686 stopped working, and this sounds better to me. If you don't want to spend $1,500 or more for a good sounding AVR, can't go wrong here.

Powerful, Warm Receiver!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! This is an incredibly powerful receiver with the beautiful, warm tones for which Yamaha is known. Easy to setup and, having bought this as an "open item," a great value!

A Good Unit with Some Downsides
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This A/V receiver could be the market's best value-for-money pick, offering excellent sound quality and robust power. However, it's not without flaws. The user interface feels outdated, and it's not the most intuitive—this could be a letdown for users expecting a modern touch. Additionally, the HDMI bandwidth is limited to 24 Gbps, which may concern those wanting to connect more advanced gaming systems like a PS5 or a PC with an RTX4090. This limitation could be a significant compromise for enthusiasts seeking to push their equipment to the limits. Despite these issues, for those prioritizing sound quality and power on a budget, this receiver remains a strong contender.

The best sounds. I have used a few others, but this one is by far the BEST BUY yet.:) Go ahead and get it, you will not regret it...this is actually my THIRD unit, same make and model.

Not Ready for next gen gaming
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want this receiver to take advantage of everything hdmi 2.1 can do. Just keep moving along. In fairness Yamaha has said they will take care of the faulty hdmi 2.1 issue. But I don’t want to keep this product waiting for them to fix it. Hence why I gave it 3 stars. The receiver looks great and is easy to set up. I couldn’t even get a Xbox series x to display properly with the settings at 4k 60 and switch inputs properly. If this worked it would have been a great value and everything I needed. I was optimistic but it just didn’t deliver.

Best bang for the buck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit replaced a much higher priced high end Marantz home theatre receiver and, suprizingly, out performs it in every way. Surround sound is best described as 3D like and the bass is defintely more robust and refined. Highly recommended as a top buy.

I'm one happy couch potato!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good! It sounds really good and is plenty loud enough to blast out some great music and watch some cinematic movies. For the price it is a good buy compared to other A/V receivers.

Simply awesome!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this reciever because of it's 4k@120hz option that will come in a future upgrade. Since my LG C1 TV is 4k@120 hz I figured I'd future proof my purchase. The features are easy to use and the sound quality is AMAZING! This reciever is made in Malaysia. I've learned over the years that this is the country you want to buy electronics from. Japan's quality is inferior. This reciever is very hard to find in stock at Bestbuy. If you can get your hands on one DO IT you wont regret it!

Yamaha RX-V6A
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a couple of Yamahas over the years and this one holds true. I have always liked Yamaha and the newer models with Music Cast app. Once I logged in to Pandora with the App the receiver played all my channels and it worked great. This unit was very easy to set up with the included microphone. You can label the inputs as you want them to read and the display is easy to read. I'm pleased with this piece.

Great unit with all the bells and whistles
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I generally have stuck with Yamaha Models and got this for far less than the listed price. Most Receivers are over priced these days as they offer fewer features and cost more. This has all the features but should probably run about 200 less than it's currently listed for. I don't like the look on the front and lacks physical buttons for things and hence the 4 star review Performs great though, Yamaha's lower end models are missing things like this has. Banana plugs for all speaker outputs (this should be standard ) It has plenty of HDMI ports and does 4k at 120hz for gaming setups Per their spec page 7.2-channel 100 Watt surround sound with Zone 2 4K120AB and 8K60B HDMI with HDCP 2.3 and eARC (7 in/1 out) Dolby Vision™, Hybrid Log-Gamma and BT.2020 Supports enhanced media and gaming – ALLM and VRR Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X™ and Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Wi-Fi®, AirPlay 2®, Spotify Connect and Voice Control MusicCast App control Pandora®, Spotify, Amazon Music, SiriusXM, TIDAL, Deezer and more YPAO automatic room calibration with R.S.C. and multipoint Phono input

Yamaha RX-V6A Review
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Unit is absolutely amazing.. So many settings and options, so you can tune it to your liking.. Absolutely amazing sound. I use MusicCast and it's awesome you can play practically all of your media from one app. It's easy to use and it also allows you to adjust sound settings on the receiver within the app. Ease of use is A+, so easy to navigate and figure out.. I love this receiver! I use it with vintage speakers and it sounds absolutely amazing..
