This is a colorful Banjo and Kazooie style 3D platformer from the days of the N64 but with greatly enhanced graphics. Excellent family friendly game that is super colorful. Great for kids and not too easy.

This game is great! Easy enough for kids to pick up and play, but challenging enough to collect all items for adults!!

I picked this up for a great price at Best Buy Deal of Day. I haven't played it as of yet, but it looks like it is going to be a game I play with my Grandkids. Read other reviews and decided to buy this , since it was only $12. It is also a 2 player game. Hard to find multi player games to play off line like the good old days.

Somewhat, anyway. The game might not be the longest in the world, but it was great fun playing through it again, so many years after Banjo & Kazooie and Banjo & Tooie. Great soundtrack, humorous banter, mostly on Laylee's part, and some fun worlds to mess about in.

Yooka-Laylee is a very welcome entry into an almost forgotten genre. Level design was solid though void or lacking im some regard. Mechanically I feel it held up well with what it sought out to do, which is a complete nostalgia overload of past games...namely Banjo-Kazooie!
I feel this game will frustrate those unprepared for the type of game that this is...a 3d platformer in which you learn moves and abilities that allow you to earn or collect items and solve puzzles in order to progress! Not every move or skill is available right away or for the case of some explained clearly enough as to what the move complety allows you to do. With this in mind it is encouraging in a way for you to have fun and just mess around with the controls and discover these for yourself!
This game can be unforgiving at times but perseverance will go a long way if you aim to 100% the entire game!
Heres to hoping for a follow up sequel or a rekindling of the genre for more games!!!

Good for completionists, but the camera gets me every now and then. The voices are also a little annoying, but there are some decent jokes in it.

Yooka-Laylee is pretty much Banjo-Kazooie with a fresh coat of paint. Good humor and visuals in the game. The camera in the game can get a little frustrating at time and make it hard to accomplish some tasks, but an update due later this year will fix that. Not much replayability here unless they add content down the road. There is a couch co-op multiplayer feature where you play old arcade style games. Had fun playing it, definitely a must if you like old school colorful platformers.

This game is a lot of fun. It's got vibrant colors, goofy characters, happy music, and a lot of corny humor. But that can also be annoying after awhile. And the gameplay can get repetitive as you search for all the Pagies. You might consider renting it first. You'll either love it and play it for hours at a time while rolling on the floor laughing, or it'll drive you crazy.

Total '90s Retro Fun

If you played and enjoyed the old Rare games in the '90s like Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Conker, this is another slice off that cake, from many of the same folks who made the originals. Subtract a star if you have no experience with those old-school games, as you may have come expect more hand-holding with your games. But if you know and miss those old games, this will definitely scratch the itch.

It's a title that's perfect for all ages and serves as a very enjoyable throwback to a genre that was unfortunately largely left in the past. Even if you find it doesn't live up to your favorites from back in the day, such as the Banjo-Kazooie to which this serves as a spiritual successor to, you should still find that it makes a strong case for this style of gameplay should make a comeback.
