I’ll be honest — in all the years I’ve owned iPhones, I’ve never really thought to try a phone case from Zagg. But when I saw the Zagg Rainier two-piece case with a built-in kickstand, I was really interested to give it a shot. And after using it for a while, I have to say — this has quickly become one of my favorite cases for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Rainier is a true two-piece design. The back portion is a combination of clear polycarbonate and a polymer material that wraps around the phone with an incredibly snug fit. There are no gaps, no loose corners — just a super tight, secure feel that gives off quality right away. The top frame snaps down over the phone to lock everything in place, and it feels rock solid once it’s on. Now, this case isn’t for anyone chasing that ultra-slim look. It’s not thin, and it doesn’t pretend to be — and honestly, I love that. I have larger hands, so I actually like a bit of heft. The Rainier adds some bulk, but in a way that feels sturdy and reassuring. The phone is fully protected front and back, with a nice raised edge around the screen so you can set it face down without worry. The camera area is divided into two sections — one that shields the lenses with the polymer material, and another that exposes the flash and LiDAR sensor through the clear back. Overall, it just gives this strong sense of protection from every angle. The sides have excellent grip, and the built-in buttons feel great — super tactile even though they’re molded as part of the polymer frame. The MagSafe ring on the back is one of the strongest I’ve ever used, and honestly, the unsung hero of this case is the kickstand. It’s recessed into the bottom so it sits flush when not in use, but pops out easily to hold the phone hands-free in either portrait or landscape mode. Perfect for watching videos or taking calls. Zagg really surprised me with this one. Out of the five cases I currently have for my iPhone 17 Pro Max — from several well-known brands — this Rainier case is easily in my top two.

I like the case color and the kickstand, but the case doesn't offer maximum protection.

The case got dirty quick the outside color was cream, but it literally was dirty within three weeks. Black couldn’t wipe it off. It would get a lot of dirt in between the screen and the phone and I used to have a OtterBox case but I got this one because I liked it, but I broke my screen six different times in six weeks so no not good

THIS… Is the Zagg Rainier Snap with kickstand, an ‘extreme protection’ case with a kickstand that promises rugged protection and drops from up to 22 feet. Out of the box, this is a two piece assembly, though everything snapped together easy and fits very snug. This case is built to withstand whatever you can throw at it, and it certainly shows in its construction and its bulk. The Iphone 17 pro max is not in any way a slim phone, though, this case makes the phone feel bigger in the hand… though not so thick it felt like a brick. The corners of the phone are a hard rubber/graphine construction and even after a few drops and trips, they refuse to show wear. The clear backing also did not show any fading or yellowing which was my biggest worry. While Zagg claims this Rainier can withstand a 22 foot drop, I could only muster a drop from my head which resulted in… nothing! Which is good. The case comes with a built-in kickstand and a latch that covers the charging port, which really just comes full circle to just how well rounded this case is for protection and convenience. My only issue with this case is that the wireless charging is very hit or miss, my phone will latch on every time but will not always charge. I assume this is due to the thickness of the phone case, and I was able to replicate this issue across a few of my chargers from several brands, including apples. Overall, this is a solid phone case for protection and is really built to go the distance. If you are willing to give up thickness for protection and possibly wireless charging, then this is a no brainer. The Zagg rainier is very well done, and I can easily see this phone case lasting longer than the phone.

TL;DR - The Zagg Rainier Snap with Kickstand is a pretty solid case for the money. The soft touch bumper area provides enough side impact protection where you don't have to worry about dropping your phone, and the back side provides ample space to the iPhone 17 Pro Max's camera array so you don't have to worry about lenses cracking should it land on its back. I would like to see a better kickstand setup, however, as it's not as flexible in use as some other cases. All together though, I do like the case. MagSafe functionality is there. If you have a MagSafe wallet, you'll be able to continue using it without an issue. Charging was also solid overall. The kickstand is good if you're the type to put your phone on your desk while charging with USB, as you'll be able to use standby for a desk clock (and calendar, depending on what clock you choose). However, after having a case where the MagSafe ring doubles as a fully-adjustable kickstand, I can say I'm a little disappointed with this one. However, cases are all about protection and the Zagg Rainier Snap is solid when it comes to that. The softer bumper and rigid back keep things safe and secure.

The Zagg Rainier Snap with Kickstand for iPhone 17 Pro Max is pretty much the go-to case if you’re worried about drops (up to 22 feet) or are just a bit clumsy with your phone. It feels super solid and protective without turning your phone into a total brick. The one drawback is that this case is bulky and I wasn’t able to quickly slide my iPhone into my shorts’ front pocket (that is made for iPhone storage) like I was when I was using a smaller case. The textured sides help it stay put in your hand, and the buttons are nice and clicky. The kickstand is actually awesome for streaming or FaceTime and sits flush when you’re not using it. The was a “must” feature for me when researching cases because I watch YouTube videos all the time on my iPhone and I needed a build in kickstand and couldn’t be bothered to carry around a separate stand. MagSafe works well for wireless charging and accessories, and the camera lenses are safe with raised edges. Some might find it a tad heavy, but if you want real protection and a solid kickstand, it just works. It even uses recycled materials and comes with a lifetime warranty if anything goes wrong. All around, it hits the sweet spot between tough and convenient for daily use.

The ZAGG Rainier Snap with Kickstand for iPhone 17 Pro Max has been a solid case so far. I really like the clear design because it lets the phone’s color show through while still looking sleek and protective. It feels sturdy in the hand without being bulky, and I’ve already dropped my phone a few times with no damage at all. Everything about it feels well thought out, from the raised edges around the camera and screen to the little cover that protects the charging port. The built-in kickstand is surprisingly handy for watching videos or FaceTime calls, and the magnetic connection works great with MagSafe accessories. The only downside is that the sandstone color gets dirty fast and needs frequent wiping to keep it looking nice. I’ve also noticed that when I charge it on my MagSafe stand overnight, it tends to get warmer than I’d like. Still, it’s one of the most protective and best-looking cases I’ve owned. It keeps my phone safe, looks good doing it, and feels like it could handle just about anything.
