Customers are saying

Customers regard the Rugged Book Keyboard Folio Case as having a high-quality keyboard and long battery life, with many praising its rugged and protective case. However, some customers find the case heavy and pricey, and a few have reported issues with the hinge mechanism. While most find the fit secure, some users experienced difficulty with opening, closing, and removing the iPad.

Original the product worked fine but over time it will loose communication with your tablet and within six months it will just stop working.

Doesn’t protect the screen, so better get a glass protector on top of the “rugged case”. Keyboard seems to stay charged for a long time.

The iPad 6 gen fits perfectly with a screen protector on. The detachable carrying case is lightweight, taking into consideration the weight of the entire book. The keyboard is easy to type on and big enough that I am able to type with the feel of regular keyboard versus some that are small and make typing feel restricted. I have not had any issues with the hinge or connection mentioned by other reviewers. Only complaint is overall weight when case is attached to keyboard, it is certainly not something you would want hold for extended periods of time.

I purchased this for an iPad 6th generation 2018 model—it is the same non-pro model sold for educational use and is the lowest priced iPad. I make a point to say this because Apple`s naming scheme is confusing. This case is designed to work with the iPad Pro 9.7, iPad Air 2, and the iPad 6th generation (the one I have). However, the iPad 6th generation is .29” thick versus .24” thick. For this reason, it would be more challenging to get the iPad under the lip of the case. I was concerned I would break the iPad. However, everything seems like it lines up with the buttons and ports. This also means, one is likely to have issues trying to use a thin screen protector without damaging it while inserting into the case. The hinge is stiff! It is so stiff I thought I would break it very quickly under normal use. I thought about trying to use the case as two separate pieces without using the hinge. I did not plan on rotating the hinge and would just leave it so I could slide the cover back under it. I really liked the slim, protective case and backlit keyboard! However, there is no stand on the back of the cover that goes over the iPad. I found a stick-on kickstand that may have worked, but it was an additional cost already on top of the retail price I had already paid for the case. The pros are the case is very rugged, and the backlit keyboard worked well. This case could be a very functional, rugged case with a few design changes. I wish Zagg would have made the rugged book PRO for this iPad. It has the design I am looking for without these issues and had the multiple pair option. The alternative to the rugged book Pro by another manufacturer does not offer any impact protection and was the same price. I returned the Zagg Rugged Book. I purchased it at the retail price, and I felt there were too many compromises. I ended up purchasing another case from Best Buy, an Otterbox that happened to be on sale, and will just use a separate keyboard.

This case has served me well. The keyboard is very good and responsive. The case is very durable and has sustained many drops. It definitely paid for itself the first time I dropped it.

Great keyboard, but might break your screen

It's a great keyboard I've been using it all day. However, I will have to take it back. There's a foam insert in the ipad case that pushes the middle of the ipad forward, causing strain on the LCD. If you press with a little pressure right in the middle, there's a blue hue.
