This series started out on the Nintendo DS and was a cult hit. The sequel saw release on the 3DS and Vita. The third entry almost never saw the light of day till fan feedback made it a reality. This compilation brings the the 1st two games in HD. Check this game out if your into novel style mystery gameplay. The third is coming sometime later as well.

999 and Virtues Last Reward are two of my favorite titles and generally opened me up to the idea of visual novels. Adult themes and narrative mixed with escape room puzzles prove for effective obstacles to overcome as the player and enjoy everything the game has to offer.

Played through these on DS originally, and was very excited to see a PS4 version as I much prefer gaming on my TV. Two of the best puzzle games I've ever played, compelling and interesting story. Would heartily recommend.

This game is an HD remaster of two wonderful Zero games. 999 from the DS, and Virtues Last Reward from the 3DS/Vita. Text and puzzle heavy but these games will blow your mind. (Play 999 first)

Though the games get story heavy near the end, and the second game has some puzzle balance issues, it's a really great, challenging game that rewards you with a compelling story.

Wonderful story, and great remake. Voice actors were good (although I kind of didn't like the voice acting for Junpei, a little flat). But, a great game overall.

I played the original games on the DS and 3DS and I consider them classics. When I heard there was going to be an updated version, I was so excited that I bookmarked Best Buy's sale's page and waited for it to be in stock. When it was available to pre-order, I did so without hesitation.
After playing the game, I have to say, if you're interested in either game in any way, shape, or form, then there's no reason not to buy it. The updated graphics look so good on a big screen, the voice acting is hilarious, and the chart addition to 999 makes this so much more convenient to play. You can actually save during puzzles in VLR too, unlike the 3DS version. That really shouldn't be exciting, but it says something for a game to be so fun that you're okay with it glitching out.
The plots are top-notch and the puzzles are really fun. The VLR puzzles are harder than the 999 ones, but there's an option to turn the difficulty down and the characters say hilarious things when you do, so it doesn't feel like you're losing anything.
I am surprised this game didn't come out of the Wii U or Next, though. The multiple screens of both systems could handle this game well.
That said, I think they did well enough with putting the info from both screens on one for these games. I didn't find it distracting enough to lower the score, anyway.
