I purchased mine with a hard drive pre-installed so I can record up to a month of video at a time. The four cameras are perfect for the size of my store (~1000 sq ft.). I have one over the register to make sure nothing goes missing, and the resolution is good enough that when I check the video I am be able to read the bills going in the drawer. The other cameras are around the floor and on the door to see the coming and goings of the customers. Setup was a breeze, I installed the app and scanned the codes. I think the physical install took about an hour, we didn’t have much trouble because the cables provided were plenty long. I like the alerts on the mobile app, although I have gotten a lot of false ones, the times when I get one it make me feel secure and happy I purchased the system. I highly recommend this unit.

Great hardware setup but lousy software

The cameras provide a decent picture, although night vision is not great. BUT, the software (ZViewer) is so poor, it's almost not worth having the cameras. Get a third party product, and you will save yourself a lot of time and frustration. The software lacks features, but more significantly has too many bugs to name. Also, tech support is limited to chat and is rather lame.

Posted .I'm sorry that you are not happy with the software for this system. We have several platforms that you can use to view your cameras. First, there is the Zsight app that allows you to link your system to your free Zsight account. Once this is done you can view the system using the web interface available at user.meshare.com. You will sign into this interface with the same username and password that you use in the Zsight app. As you mentioned, you can also use the Zviewer PC software. If you are not happy with this interface, you could forward the needed ports for this system, then use Internet Explorer to view the cameras. This interface will also give you access to some menu options for the NVR. We also have tech support available over the phone, if you prefer. Excellent Product at a Good Price

Actually, I was unable to connect one of the camera's because the included 80' cable was too short, I needed 100'. I'm just not sure if I can use standard CAT 5e Ethernet cable which can be purchased at my local Home Depot or if I have to order a POE camera cable. Anyway, this system was fairly easy to set up and to access via my smartphone with the free downloaded app. I'm pleased with the quality of the video and the ease of viewing recorded playback.

As for the cost, i've had a robbery and lost $$$$$...We bough this unit because we didn't want to pay the $400 cloud fee($100 each camera). With good image quality, this is a much better deal if you don't want to pay the extra service fee for your surveillance service.

Only when I tried to let the system go through internet, it took me a while to figure it out, the tools they provide on line are very help. I also can use my phone to monitor it, awesome! I didn't expect so easy. Image quality is pretty good too.

There are several things you can do to make the most of the night vision. Make sure that the camera is pointed at a downward angle so the camera's IR lights can reflect back toward the camera. Similar to using a flashlight, if you aimed it parallel to the ground in a wide open parking lot, you will not be able to see much. However, if angled down toward the ground, the immediate area is much brighter. The same principle applies to how the camera creates an image.
The camera will also use some ambient light that is in the environment to create an image. The image will be better in an environment that has a little ambient light compared to a location that is in complete darkness.

Ir lights stopped working

Posted .I'm sorry there was an issue with the cameras IR lights. The cameras are covered under the manufacturer one-year warranty. You can submit an RMA request online at surveillance.zmodo.com/rma/. We can test the cameras and replace any defective items for you.
