I enjoyed this movie a lot, as with most Pixar animations. Watch a trailer of the film to see if you'd like it too. As for the SteelBook aspect (as compared to other releases), the SteelBook is a great value when you can catch it on sale. The SteelBook comes with the 4k UDH Blu-ray, which has a great picture, but also comes with a 1080p Blu-ray for older devices. Best of all, this includes a digital copy that you can register with your services like Vudu, Movies Anywhere, and Apple Movies (previously iTunes). The digital copy is in 4k where available, so it is a great option if you do not have a 4k UHD Blu-ray player, but do have a 4k streaming device, like AppleTV, Roku, or Amazon Fire Stick.

It is about time Disney upgraded Zootopia (2016) to 4K SteelBook.

“Zootopia” is in my humble opinion the crowning achievement of Disney’s current “revival” period, and almost on par with the best Pixar films; a thoughtful reflection (if you don’t literally compare it to our society) of racism and societal issues, with two of the best Disney characters in pretty much ever leading the film; though it has its fair share of imperfections with its sometimes muddled message. Thus far, this UHD release might be the best way to own it if one wants to add this flawed but great film to their collection, but the picture quality is a more subtle improvement over the blu-ray (wait for a sale if you already own the 2016 release). Improvements are obvious in some scenes (look at the light reflecting on the floor as Asst. Mayor Bellwether asks Mayor Lionheart to review her books), while other scenes, such as the press conference scene, appear darker than they should. The Dolby Vision stream found on VUDU and Disney+ is a more satisfying experience in terms of color grading and highlights. As of this writing, the steelbook version is sold out. While it’s certainly a major improvement over the very bland cover art of the regular 4k release, this steelbook version doesn’t offer a much stellar alternative, placing various characters in random areas of the cover and settling for a movie still for the inside. One of the more basic and less creative Best Buy exclusives, and I don’t think anyone is missing much if they missed out on this steelbook.
