I was in the market for a new phone for a while- pretty frustrating, Either they wanted a fortune or I got a miserable phone. And here comes ZMax. Expert reviews were not great, but surprisingly, buyer reviews were much more positive so I decided to try it.
The price /performance ratio is amazing. I love the large screen, which is bright ,easy to read and has good colors. The battery life is far better than b6y most smartphones. The phone is fast. No needles bloatware, clean Android. easy to set up and use. Call quality very good, speaker phone good., signal sensitivity good.. The camera is not great for shooting action pictures, but if you give it a few seconds time before taking picture it will produce great quality pics even with under low light conditions.
On the down side, the battery is non removable- for me a reason to downgrade to 4 stars. A few useful features are missing, like one touch answer.
Overall , a great choice for anyone who does not want to spend $ 800 on a phone but still expects a decent performance.

I was a little leery of purchasing an ZTE but the have come a long way since their early days. First this phone is impressive with its size. The screen is bright and clear. The 4g LTE is great with T Mobile. Out of the box this phone is almost bloat free. I really like that. It is fast and responsive. I went through 4 Note 3's and all had the same problems. This phone has not had any so far at all. The battery lasts me almost a full day of heavy use. I must say the only drawback is that there aren't any cases as of yet so, be careful not to drop it. The camera is pretty decent for this price range.

LET ME JUST TELL YOU. THIS MAVERICK OF A PHONE, ZTE MAX IS HIGHLY UNDERRATED! I HAVE HAD IT FOR A MONTH AND THE RESULTS ARE INCOMPARABLE! I HAVE USED OVER 40 GB OF MUSIC, MOVIES, ET; ETC. AND THIS WITH ONLY 16 GIGS OF ON BOARD MEMORY. NO LAGGING AT ALL! VIDEOS, AND MOVIES, PICS, INTERNET AND EVERYTHING ELSE UNBUFFERED! YES, I DO GET MAIL TELLING ME ABOUT DATA USAGE, BUT WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A LAUNCHER (I PREFER APUS), IT'S COMMENDABLE! VIDEOS, MOVIES, CRISP! BATTERY-THERE IS NONE BETTER! AND THERE'S THINGS I KEEP FINDING WITHIN MY EXPLORATION THAT KEEPS ME IN AWE! I HAVE DOWNLOADED APPS LIKE,-OBSESSIVELY AND IT'S JUST PHENOMENAL! AND I ONLY PAY $50 TOTALLY UNLIMITED. PLUS $6 FOR HANDSET INSURANCE. THE PHONE IS ALSO A MONSTER OF A BEAST! IT CAN HANDLE JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!SO, FOR THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO SPEND OVER "$600 PLUS" JUST BECAUSE OF THE NAME AND THE PHONE LOOKS COOL, GO RIGHT AHEAD! BUT THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO BUY A PRODUCT THAT'S BOTH COSMETICALLY CLEAN AND SUPER DEPENDABLE.....LOOK NO FURTHER..YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!

Well made, good feel, nice crystal clear audio, vibrant screen . It is weighty and large for my big hands. I was surprised how much better this is than my previous Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 phablet. It also cost me much less.
Not good for small handed people who do not want a phone on the heavier side.
I am very happy with this purchase thus far.

Before I bought this phone I really looked into it to see if it would be a mistake buying. The review on CNET was only alright, the phone is made by a brand that I personally had never heard of -- I was a bit afraid that I'd buy this phone, or "phablet" as they like to call it, and end up regretting it. But the reviews on T-Mobile's site (about 66 in total at the time) gave it a 4.6/5 and were all very positive. So, I took a chance with ZTE and bought the ZMAX. And let me just say, I love it.
The phone stands at 6.4" x 3.3" with a 5.7" TFT LCD HD screen. It has a resolution of 1280x720 and sports the scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 3.0
For it's camera, ZTE provides the ZMAX with an 8MP rear-facing camera and LED light, a 1.6MP front-facing camera, and a 1080p camcorder.
It has a long lasting 3400 mAh battery with a 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM (User memory), and up to 32GB of microSD expandable memory. It also has some very nice audio, coming equipped with Dual-Mic Noise Suppression and Dolby DM3+
Pros:
- Very clear display
- Loud, crisp audio
- Despite the CNET review, I love both the front-facing and rear camera.
- Lots of internal memory
- Big screen
- Bright LED flash/flashlight
Cons:
- Cannot move apps to SD card. Can only move pictures, music, and files to the SD card.
- Due to not being able to remove the back cover, in order to insert/remove the memory and/or sim card you must use a tool that they provide.
Final Verdict:
All-in-all, as stated, I love this phone. You can find cases for this phone on Amazon (ZTE ZMAX Z970) if you are worried about there not being any cases for it, and although you aren't able to move apps to the SD card, the phone provides plenty of internal memory to make up for it. I strongly suggest disregarding any worries about the brand of the phone (if that happens to be one of your concerns) as well, as it has proven to be just as good as the big name brands in my opinion. Highly recommend this phone.

I bought this phone for the price. Phone performance overall good not great. The Zmax is worth buying if you want a big screen for a low price. Just remember not to compare the Zmax to any high end phones because you will be disappointed. The camera is mediocre that's why I gave it 4 stars.

Good Budget Big Screen Smartphone

This is a pretty good big screen smartphone for the price. It comes with Android KitKat 4.4.2 Despite the large physical dimension of this phone (it's physically taller than Note 2 and Note 3), it still feels a bit lighter than my Galaxy Note 2 phone. Plus, the screen brightness is brighter on this ZTE Zmax phone than the Galaxy Note 2. Here are some Pros/Cons about this phone
Pros
*Large and bright screen smartphone at a good price. Brighter screen than Galaxy Note 2
*Feels light and thin. Thinner and lighter than the Note 2
*Large 3400mah battery with long battery life.
*Not alot of bloatware installed. Comes with Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 version
*Pretty decent specs that has a Quad core 1.2ghz CPU and 2gb of RAM
*Available Micro SD slot
*Decent size internal storage with 16gb internal
*Display uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3
Con's
*Dimensions of the phone is quite large for its 5.7" screen size. Note 3 and Note 4 has same screen size but, dimensions are smaller
*Non-Removeable Battery
*Micro-SD slot and Micro sim installation/removal relies on a mini removable tray. A pin tool is needed to remove the trays
*Audio that is recorded on the phones mic is too soft
*Focusing on the camera and video is on the slow side
*Very limited cases for this phone
