Best Buy refurbished = MISTREATED PRODUCT

Let me begin saying that I have two Zune HD and one Zune 16, and love them all to death. They are the best music players ever, period. Anyone that dares to say an iPod is better has definitely not used a Zune. Seriously, get one while the last, but do NOT order it here.
I ordered a refurbished Silver HD and just received it, in a generic box. It is not refurbished, it is ReBanged, ReScratched ReMessed Up. Oh, and by the way, Zune HDs are not easy to scratch.
I buy a lot of refurbished items because they are great value and 95% of the time are in great shape, but even if the price seems right, if you order here, make sure you keep your expectations low.
Now, excuse me, have to run to the store to return this (and lose my shipping charge)...

I got a black 32GB refurbished Zune for my girlfriend as a gift, she refused to jump on the ipod bandwagon, and i couldn't beat the price this new even with it being discontinued was as high as an ipod touch. Over all i am happy with the final product but dissatisfied with the process i had to go through to get it. The hardware showed no sign of wear, the screen seemed as vibrant and responsive as new, wifi works though i wish it had a little better range but don't think that has to do with it being refurbished, sound is great, syncs fine with zune software. So over all who ever did the refurbished work did a good job.
A word of advice when ordering this don't expect every thing they say they will give you i got my first order and it was missing the ear bud foam covers and most importantly the sync cable. I got on the phone hoping best buy could just send out the missing parts but i had to get a whole new one and send the old one back, though they did expedite the delivery for free cause of this with a little complaining from me as they tried to convince me that the sync cable was not included but really its a necessity and the site said it comes with it. I just got the new one and it did come with the sync cable but no manual or earbud covers i kept the small manual from the first but still the second one was missing parts that they say are suppose to come with it i didn't bother calling cause the missing covers were not a big deal, as she will use better ear buds any way, and i didn't feel like going through another return and wait.

Best Product Ever Used

I bought the ZuneHD a while ago back when I was getting tired of working with the Itunes software and all I can say is that its so much easier to use. For me the pros outweigh the cons all the major things that the Ipods have are met with the ZuneHD. The apps are free and I have had a much better experience with the software. The things lacking which I noticed is that while the web browsing is nice it doesn't compare to that of Ipod's in the fact that you can't play videos such as youtube videos, also it does not have an external speaker like the Ipods have. Beyond these minor technicalities the ZuneHD is phenomenal all the apps are free, the zune market place is simple to navigate, as well the zune subscriptions are the best in the fact that you just pay 9.99 and can have unlimited music downloading. The flip side is if you didn't spend microsoft points on the songs or albums then you can no longer play these songs when your subscription runs out so you have to continue paying the subscription fee every month or year depending on which one you go with.

I have had a couple different MP-3 Players (Dell, i-pod, and SanDisk)
this is my second ZUNE. I love them. My new 32 Gig and my old 8 Gig. Ease of use and the formats it will except. Small enough to fit in my pocket or RUCK Sack. Outstanding Battery life (my 8 Gig lasted on an 18 hour flight to Iraq with 1 and a half charges.) Software from Microsoft is not only well organized, but fun to use.

Refurbished - Pleasantly Surprised

First of all, I have been a Zune user for many years. Started with a 2nd Gen 80 GB, broke the screen on it while in Iraq, and upgraded to the 120GB Gen 2 version. I have forever loathed iTunes and Apple products, and so was happy that Microsoft had an answer to the cookie cutter MegaCorp solution. The HD blows away itouch in my opinion *IF* you are looking for a dedicated MP3 Player. I have an android phone and use that for apps/pics/internet/etc. The Zune HD has allowed me to retain a long battery life product that I can listen to music on non-stop without worrying about draining my phones battery.
Additionally, I love Zune because of ZunePass. I am grandfathered in, pay 10 bucks a month, and get 10 DRM-Free songs per month, plus unlimited downloads. This is a very hard deal to beat.
The product itself is phenomenal. I was very hesitant about purchasing refurbished, as some of the previous reviews have mentioned getting a beat up, mishandled product. For me this was not the case at all. It arrive on time, neatly packaged, with a charging cable and headphones (no headphone covers though, but that doesn't concern me as I use a different set of ear buds anyhow.) The product itself was in MINT condition. Not a single scratch, dent, ding, or fingerprint even. As such, I will DEFINITELY be purchasing refurbished again in the future, as the savings is phenomenal, and I feel like I got a brand new product without the original packaging.
I hope this helps those considering a refurbished product. Good job Best Buy, and Microsoft, please go back to making Zunes... No one wants a windows phone!

This is my 2nd Zune and I have had nothing but positive things to say about it. I love how Microsoft intergrated the windows software in the HD version it looks awsome when you are scrolling from artists and songs. Being an owner of both the Zune and Ipod touch I can say without a doubt that I have not had any problems with my Zune compared with my Ipod. If you want a solid MP3 player with nice features and can get by with limited apps. then the Zune is a better deal but if apps are what gets you off then try an Ipod. The refurb deal is hard to pass up for the size of the drive and features on the device. BestBuy it a home run on this deal.

Great product! I've wanted a zune since two of my buddies had the 1st gen, but I held off all these years. I never bought another mp3 instead I just would use my cell phone as one. I was not planning on buying the hd model, but for the price this seemed like the best deal. I've owned other refurbished electronics, so I didn't hesitate to scoop one of these up. I was nervous that if I waited any longer I would not be able to get one at all. I love the fact zunes have radio on them. The screensavers are cool and I love how it automatically loads pictures of the band as well as giving you biography info. You can listen to songs alphabetically, by band, by album, by genre, etc., so the features are endless. There is a random track feature that seems to skip around nicely if you don't want to play a playlist or one of the above groups. Only little complaint I have is the button on the side of the player almost seems useless. When you press it, the on screen display comes up and your able to adjust volume or skip tracks. You can get into the same features by touching the middle of the screen. Two different ways of doing the same thing with the same amount of ease, so the button could have been eliminated or given a different feature.

Refurbished Zune

I love the Zunes. They are cheaper in my opinion than the IPOD. Now with the refurbished Zune, it was cheaper than the new zune, but I have some problems with it. The touch screen gets stuck doing a command. IE (forward, backward, volume up or down, play music and etc.). I still love the zune, I would just recommend getting a new one and not refurbished.

I love the Zune HD series, Ive own the 16gb, and 2 32gbs and love them all, I purchased a 32gb "refurbished" player from bestbuy, now i dont really know what refurbished means to them, they should it label it "heavily used" my unit was completly scratched, screen, back, and dings in the corners, really upseting. Get a Zune they are amazing mp3's players, they are truly mp3 players, something the ipod touch lost in the way. DONT GET IT FROM BESTBUY Im sending my unit to Microsoft, still under warranty, to get a replacement one, really disappointed by bestbuy, PRODUCT COMPLETLY DAMAGE!

Great Hardware, lacks a manual

The Good
The player is robust, has a nice feel in the hand
Very, Very good battery life
Thin, lightweight compared to other players of comparable size
buttons that won't get accidentally pressed, yet you can find them easily without removing the zune from your pocket
Snappy response to input
Can customize pins, playlists, and favorites all on the go without requiring a computer
The web browser is quite usable-loads stuff fast and renders nicely
Radio sounds good, although sensitive to direction the device points (what's up with that?)
The not so good
Needs a manual for those of us looking for on screen buttons
Finding accessories is nearly impossible, even online
The software isn't that good (I use amarok, for comparison)
Limited file formats (no flac or vorbis support)
Can run apps not included in the marketplace with a bit of hacking (the amount of work is what makes it not so good)
Recommendations
Get all of your accessories at the same time as the zune-I always feel paranoid walking around with a mp3 player and no case, and you will want to use this thing.
Don't get the matte screen protectors-they blur the screen just a little, but it is noticeable. The screen is absolutely gorgeous, and the matte mucks with it.
When putting on a screen protector, clean the device thoroughly beforehand, and put the protector on in a clean environment. A few specs of dust kill the clean look after an applied screen protector.
Stuff this thing with music, then don't go back to the software unless you can avoid it.
Review
I was a bit wary, as this was a refurb, but microsoft hardware has always been very good to me. Software, maybe not, but hardware has always rocked. Such is the case here. So far, I have charged up the battery and it lasted 30+ hours playing music, even with the occasional screen turn-on for volume/skipping songs. No scratches were discernible, the buttons were all in working order, even some I didn't recognize as buttons at first.
The web browser works, although the onscreen keyboard is a bit of a pain. You get used to it, eventually. The problem that I had initially was that I didn't realize that the thing at the bottom center of the screen was the "back" button. It quits out of the application/menu. This little button was so firm initially that I was afraid to touch it too hard. Other than that little bit, the device works without issues, and it even has some nice customization features that I haven't found in other devices, like on the fly playlist generation and the ability to change what items are pinned to the quickplay list.
There are entire lists of apps that you can install that are not in the zune marketplace, yet still work. It takes a bit of searching (look on zunedevwiki.org), but you install things to take full advantage of the zune hardware, like ftp servers for your zune and ssh capabilities (my personal favorite). This simply takes a bit more work and fiddling than some might like.
One slight disapointment that I have is that the email app that is in the marketplace doesn't seem to verify my account. The workaround is to simply load it from the internet (gmail) and that works out fine.

I would suggest this to all my friends I have the had the Zune 8GB it is not as great as the HD Zune. I have downloaded many apps and many songs and pictures and still have a lot of GB left but the battery runs a little low if you us the apps a lot so I suggest if you travel get a travel charger as well.

A rather good media player. Yet lacks variety of apps that would make this product competitive with the iTouch. If you are wanting to listen to music, video and radio, this is for you. If you are in it for the apps, then the iTouch is a better option.

Great Music MP3

I've had the mp3 for over a year and its okay for music and watching videos. But there are very few games like 20 and they aren't that good. And the wi-fi is bad and you can't watch you-tube videos or any other type of videos including playing music off internet. But a good mp3 for listening to music and watching downloaded videos.

I bought this player because I had used Zoons in the past and am familiar with the software. I primarily wanted more memory. The price was excellent. I spent several hours copying cd's onto my computer and then onto the Zoon. After 3 days it just stopped working. I returned it today.
