Samsung S20 5G
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Very pleased with this device. Impressive design, speed, and the camera is awesome. The single take option is spot on. Recordings are truly amazing. I decided to purchase through Best Buy due to being cheaper and a better overall deal than going through Verizon. I personally didn't want the big S20 Plus or bigger S20 Ultra. The S20 is perfect.

Excellent upgrade to the Galaxy line!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I'm coming from an S8. I didn't have any issues with the phone after three years, but dropped it and it wasn't worth replacing the screen vs finally upgrading. While slightly taller, this phone is very similar in size and use to that phone. The processor is blazing fast and it can handle anything I throw at it. Smart Switch by Samsung made transferring everything over to this phone incredibly easy. Samsung's UI is incredibly flexible and allows a lot of customization. The screen on this thing is beautiful and I like that they toned down the useless curved side screens. The centered hole punch on the front is great and much better than the S10. I also am in love with the 120hz refresh rate. I have always dropped my resolution down to 1080 anyway and with Samsung's incredible Amoled displays, you won't notice the difference in resolution. However, you will absolutely notice the 120hz refresh rate. After using it, you will never want a phone without it. The camera has been great. Honestly, most flagship phones have gotten so good that only the tech obsessed will notice the minor benefits and differences. This thing just works without doing anything to the settings. It takes great pictures in virtually every scenario, including night time. Regarding all the complaints, let's address those. First, I hate Verizon Wireless and all the bloatware and quirky things they CONSTANTLY do. However, their service in my area is superior so I like many use them. While it is disappointing that EVERY other carrier was able to get 12GB RAM and a microsd, Verizon claims it was to incorporate their supposedly better 5G. Well, in general, that's a stupid reason, and based on Verizon's track record, one that I don't believe at all. It is more likely that it is a cost saving measure. However, these phones are selling for $500 to $700 lately and that makes the 8GB of RAM much more tolerable. You have all the tech you need from the bigger sibling at a fraction of the price in a more pocketable form factor, which is important to me (I prefer smaller phones). You get a top of the line flagship screen, camera, and processor. And unlike phones in the "mid tier" price range, this thing comes with 8GB instead of 4GB. I honestly wish the 5G wasn't a factor because it barely exists anywhere and won't be something I pay extra to take advantage of. But for the regular user, you won't notice the lack of RAM. The memory expansion is a little disappointing, but the 128GB of storage that it comes with in base model is plenty for most. In general, this is a fantastic phone that is selling for a great price. Yes, Verizon sucks, but the phone is still great and only the hyper sensitive techies will care at all about the concessions. You most likely won't notice any of the trade-offs in day to day use.

Mostly Great
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This phone is my wife’s. It has great responsiveness. The 120 hz display is noticeably smoother when scrolling compared to the old 60 hz display on the Galaxy S9+ it replaced. The 6.2 inch display matches the S9+ in size while it has a smaller frame making it easier to hold, especially for petite hands, and negating the need to have bought the S20+. (You think S9+ —-> S20+). The move to 128 GB of storage is a plus. Unfortunately, the Verizon 5g is not currently available in my immediate area so it can’t be tested right now. An added plus is the pre-installed screen protector, not to be confused with the removable plastic film that you peel off when you first take the phone out of the box. An insert in the box notes it and it’s one less thing to deal with. My Note 10+ had it too. On the down side, the under display fingerprint reader is either less accurate or responsive than the old rear touch fingerprint reader. They should have kept that. It is not improved over the same under screen reader in my Note 10+. The curved edges seem a bit more problematic for accidental touches and the loss of the heart rate and spO2 sensors is a disappointment but those were dropped on the previous model. The Galaxy Watch 3 is the correction for that. Anyone considering the Verizon S20 5g UW should also be aware that this model does not have micro sd card storage like the other carriers’ models do due to modifications relating to the mmwave 5g components although 128 GB of storage is a lot. It also only has 8 GB ram memory due to the same modifications, which should not really matter but it could affect how fast heavy apps load, like games or how fast it responds while having many apps open in the background compared to the other models having 12 GB of ram. But don’t let that deter you if you just need a phone to do the average texting/surfing/social/entertainment/music things most of us do. No regrets here. This phone is just fine. Not everybody needs the plus size. After all, they just keep getting bigger.

Really Happy, but Beware MicroSD & Memory
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Love the phone. Lots of new features (upgrading from S8 so it's been awhile). I will just say to be aware of the differences between this one (the 5G UW) and the other phones in the line. The mass marketing says this size has 12GB of RAM & expandable memory through a MicroSD slot. The Verizon UW version scraps the SD slot entirely and lowers the RAM to 8GB. They may have updated things now, but it was 100% not clear on the pre-release sale. If these are important to you then this version isn't right. Some reviews now point out that the 8GB RAM may be insufficient to run the computer mirroring programs (I forget what they're called). I'm upset with BB for not making those things more clear, as I might have made a different decision, but now I have the phone and it's too late. Regardless, the phone is awesome... just would have been awesome+ and WELL worth the money if those other things were included.

Great phone but wish it had a few small things
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. It's a great phone. I had the mid range model a51 and returned it because it just wasn't cutting it. I figured, since I use my phone hours and hours a day, a good phone is worth the price, and the s20 is definitely worth the price. However I just wish it had a couple of things like the notification LED light for missed calls or text messages. The s9 and earlier models all had it. Why can't this one just have it? It must be really cheap for them to add it! I find myself constantly checking my phone if I'm expecting a call or text from someone. And I like to have my phone on silent, so the LED light is critical. Also, the finger print sensor is on the screen as opposed to the back. It's more convinient but makes phone screens impossible to use. Writing about what I like would take far too long, so it's just easier to say what I don't like and assume everything else about the phone to be good, otherwise I'd complain about it.

True Flagship Phone
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This is what you expect from a Samsung flagship phone. It's awesome. Great materials, feels expensive, buttons have a nice click to them. The display is the best one I've owned on a phone yet. The brightness and colors are excellent. The phone performance is snappy and it has plenty of memory for most people You will see some people (WHO DIDN'T DO THEIR RESEARCH) give this phone bad reviews because they were surprised by one thing: 1) The phone has no microSD. The reason is because this latest version of the S20 has added a UW (ultra wide) band radio giving the phone access to the highest 5G speeds. This radio took up the physical space the SD card used to be. If the phone has enough memory for you, and it should for most people, then great. You just bought a future proof phone that, when they launch 5G everywhere, will be faster than the first S20's. I've been using this for about a month now and have zero complaints. It is a great phone.

Mostly Good, WARNING: NO SD CARD SLOT and 8GB RAM
||Posted .This is an okay phone. WARNING: the Verizon UW phone is a lower grade version than the standard S20. I didn't realize this when I bought this as it isn't clear in the item description that the verizon UW model compromises otherwise standard features. The UW version has a higher frequency antenna that will most likely only be useful if you live in somewhere like NYC since it only works within a couple hundred meters/line of sight of a tower. That is a technology limitation that is unlikely to be solved due to the physical properties of radio waves used for very high frequency 5G. The price you pay for the marginal use of the higher frequency 5G is a reduction to 8Gb ram instead of 12Gb for the base model and no SD card slot. I resisted upgrading for a while before buying this phone because I feel that smart phones are overpriced, designed for a short life span and only minimal improvements, and some removed features, have been made in the past decade. The only exception is that the cameras in newer phones have improved noticeably. Battery: Seems good, I have at least 50% left at the end of the day after moderate use. (for now... I wish I could easily replace it in a couple years when it wears out like I did with my old phone) Camera: Works pretty good. Like I said this is the main place where phones have improved in the past decade. The zoom feature works well if there is enough light for it. 30x zoom will always be a little blurry but it is still pretty impressive for a phone. The camera also has a "pro" mode where you can manually set the exposure (1/12000 to 30s), ISO (50 to 3200), White balance, manual focus and some other settings. At night the camera works very well making out more detail than I could see with my eyes. Performance: Good for now, will see what happens in a year or two when it gets "updates" and suddenly starts slowing down.

Fantastic camera, fast operating speed
||Posted .You can tell from the reviews that folks that have used Samsung phones for a while are used to having the slot where you can add extra memory. Get Google Drive or Dropbox folks. 128gb is more than I'll ever use. This is an easy to use phone with an awesome camera. I wouldn't have minded if they'd have left the 3.5mm headphone jack because my car is old and that's how I connect audio, but not a deal breaker. The only reason I bought this over a cheap Samsung is that I have small kids and I want good pictures. Great screen also. I feel that the phones are overpriced now, but that's pretty much across the board with all brands. I had my last Galaxy for 4 years and only upgraded after forgetting it was in my pocket while swimming. Nice upgrade, recommend it.

Q: QuestionWhat does the UW mean on the s20 phone? I thought the s20 has been out for a while, why does this phone need to be preordered? Thanks
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The UW stands for "Ultra Wideband" It is the specific mmwave technology that Verizon uses for 5G. Verizon had to get Samsung to create a specific S20 model for their 5G technology. The previously released S20 was only compatible with other carriers "low-band" 5G technology. Once Verizon gets their low band up and running, the S20 5G UW will be compatable with it as well.
