Nice Low priced tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A quick buy for a trip, we didn't want to spend much. Being accustomed to Samsung cells pushed us towards the Tab A 8. Good choice because using the Tab A 8 required very little learning. It is so much like using the Galaxy S 7 cell... but with a nice big screen. It's main drawback is that it is only for wifi use. Being connected to a phone company would be nice.

Solid Android tablet with a few minor issues.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a solid tablet that was a bargain at $149.99 and only has a few niggling issues that keep me from giving a 5 start rating. 1. The operating system hasn't had any new security patches since November 2018. 2. It came with Android 8 (Oreo) preinstalled and since there hasn't been any updates since last year, I doubt that it'll get the current version of Android 9 (Pie). 3. The buttons at the bottom of the tablet aren't backlit, and while I find this annoying, it's not a deal breaker. The screen is sharp and bright. Battery life is excellent. I don't like the Samsung Experience launcher, but you can replace it with any number of apps on Google Play. I use Nova Launcher myself, but there are other choices. All in all, a solid buy and recommended if you can live with the issues I've mentioned.

Q: Questionwhat does this tablet offer than the other I'm considering buying, they too are Samsung but it's a little more. does more money gives butter quality/ what accessories go with this offer.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Most mid-size tablets, including all of the premium Galaxy Tab S2 & S3, and all iPads, use a 4x3 form factor. This tablet, like the old Galaxy Tab Pros, has a 16x9 form. I think the longer, skinnier shape has two important advantages: it is easier to hold single-handed in the portrait orientation; and it is superior for displaying wide-screen videos in the landscape orientation. If you like the 4x3 form, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0. are both on sale now. However, the first does not have premium specifications and the second is already a 2+ year old design. If you like the 16x9 form in a mid-size, mid-priced tablet that will still be relatively new in the year 2020, the Galaxy Tab 8.0 32GB would be a fine choice. It's already on my "wish list."

Q: QuestionIs a upgrade to the previous Galaxy Tab A 8' because I just got this one back in the Spring time.

- A:Answer Didn't Come out until late October ... If Yours Is 16 Gb , It's a 2016 / early 2017 Model ... If It's a 32 GB , It is a new 2017 Model ... The 32gb is less wide , thinner , & longer ... Also the easiest difference - it has a camera flash ...

Q: QuestionThis is advertised as 32GB, but many other sites say it's 16 GB. Can anyone clarify this?
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer The Brand New 2017 Is 32 GB , The 2017 & early 8.0 Is 16gb ... Sometimes They Also Call It A Tab A2 ... If It Says 32 That Is The New One ... If It says 16gb That Is The Older Model ... The 32 Isn't As Wide & Is Longer , So Beware When Buying Covers / Cases , Etc... I Had To Wait Awhile For A Cover , Protective Screen , & Still Haven't Got The Keyboard Yet , As Manufacturers Had To Scramble To Make The New Stuff Because It Was So New ...

Q: QuestionMy husband has two Nexus tablets -- one 7" and one 10" -- what's a compatible tablet? I can't find a Nexus tablet. He said something about an android system but it's foreign to me. Thank you!
Asked by Cindie.
- A:Answer Samsung makes Tab A 7" , Tab A 8" , Tab A 9.7" , Tab A 10.1" , Tab S2 in 8" & 9.7" & S3 In 9.7" ... You Might Want To Also Shop For Internal Memories Of 16 , 32 , or 64 GB Too As The 8GB Memories Don't Hold Alot ... If He Used A Nexus Tablet , It Had An Android Operating System Just Like The Samsung Does ... Newer Systems Go From KitKat , Lollipop , Marshmallow , Nougat , & Now Slightly Out Oreo ... All Those Systems Have Updated To Nougat Automatically Through Out The Year ... I Have 3 Samsung Tablets & Have Owned another 8 over the past 6 years ... I Have Traded Some In For The Newer Ones & Given A Couple Away To Family Because The Trade In Value Wasn't Enough ... I Personally Won't Use Any Other Tablet ... They Work Great , Work With My TV'S , And Some Of Them Have S-pens ... The Tab S3 Is New & Powerful For Work & The Newest Tab A(2) 8.0 32GB Is Really Nice Too . I Would Also Highly Recommend Some 2016 / 2017 Models Like The Tab A 9.7" 16 GB As Great & A Flagship A 9.7 Just Appeared That Uses A S-Pen ... I Used A Tab A 10.1 , But After I Got Spoiled With Using A S-Pen , I Wanted To Get The 10.1 With A S-Pen ... There Is Nothing Wrong With The Tab 7.0 , But I Really Can't Use One With Any Less Than 16 GB Anymore ... You Really Can't Go Wrong With Any Of Them ... Just Know That Tab S2 & S3 Are The Top Line & Are More Expensive , With The S3 Being The Newest ... Hope That Helps , I've Had Just About Every Model & Haven't Been Disappointed ... I Might Add , I Have Caught Wind Of Next Years Foldable Tablets That Look Alot Like Your Cell Phone ...

Q: QuestionDoes this tablet do texting and do email. ? What is the average battery life ? Is it a good one, as I buy all my electronics from Best Buy Thank you, Marty
Asked by KT3S67.
- A:Answer I'm stunned someone actually said that you can't text with this tablet, simply because it is WiFi only. Of course you can! I own over a half dozen, WiFi only tablets, and I can send/receive texts on every single one of them. If you currently have a cell phone plan (mine is with Verizon for example), simply download your provider's texting app from the Google play store, set it up using your mobile phone number info and you're good to go. Heck, I have a 13 year old nephew who got himself one of those online phone numbers. And he uses THAT to text on his WiFi only tablet. So don't pay attention to uniformed info. As for whether this is a good tablet or not...I feel it is excellent for a budget tablet. Samsung has kicked up all of the specs from the 2015 version of this device. And currently being reduced by $30 on sale, you can't knock it! My favorite thing about this version of the Tab A is that they have switched it to a 16:9 aspect ratio display. Perfect for watching video content. If you want a budget tablet with just a little more kick, or prefer one with a 4:3 aspect ratio, I would recommend the Galaxy Tab S2. Was top of the line in it's day! But now, two years removed from it's original release date, it's a Steal as a budget device. Best Buy has them as low as $229 for one that is Open Box. Either way, you can't go wrong with one of these as a budget device! I own one of each.
