Q: What's the difference between the SanDisk - Extreme SSD and the SanDisk - Extreme PRO SSD?

A: Hi Mike, please be informed that the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSDs have transfer speeds of upto 550MB/s and the SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSDs have transfer speeds of upto 1050MB/s. Also, please be informed that the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSDs have a 3-Year Limited warranty whereas the SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSDs have a 5-Year Limited Warranty.

Q: Can this device be password protected? I'm only interested in answers from people who actually have one and have password protected it.

A: Yes but not the drive it self their is a vault program that everything goes into that is password protected. The software can be upgraded for better encryption as well. Keep in mind that moving stuff into the vault is very slow, I hope this helps. Kevin

Q: Does this have a spin speed of 7200 RPM?

A: It’s a Solid State Drive (SSD), there are no moving parts. I will say that it does have lightning fast read and write speeds. Backed up about 700gigs in about 20 mins.

Q: Can this be swapped back and forth between PC and Mac, to transfer files from one to another? Or does it need to be formatted specifically for one or the other like most hard drives? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am not a tech person.

A: Yes, it can be used to transfer files between Mac and PC. I don’t remember the out of box format, but from Mac’s disk utilities format as FAT. I have used it this way.

Q: Is this compatible with an iPad Pro (2020)?

A: As long as you have the correct cable to connect the SSD to the laptop it will work.

Q: Do I need to use the encryption software? Can the encryption software be removed from the drive altogether?

A: Please allow us to inform you that SecureAccess is an optional preloaded encryption application which helps you to password protect the data on the drive. It is not mandatory to use the application you can delete the SecureAccess files from the drive and use the drive as a plug and play device.

Q: Will this work to store games via the next gen consoles? PS5/Xbox Series X

A: Hi, please be informed that this SSD can be connected as an external drive connected to a PS5 or an XBOX Series X Gaming Console. However, please note that if these consoles allow playing games that are installed on an externally connected disk drive, then you should be able to play games on your PS5/ XBOX using this SSD Drive. In order to know how to do the same if possible, we suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the corresponding gaming console.

Q: What is the difference between this one, Gen 2, and the original one?

A: This one has better software and has Alexa which makes looking for programs easier
