Yes, it can be used to transfer files between Mac and PC. I don’t remember the out of box format, but from Mac’s disk utilities format as FAT. I have used it this way.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.FAT32 has a 4gb file size limit. exFAT was developed as a replacement in like 2006. Both modern Windows(post XP that has been updated to most recent) and Mac OS X can read and write to exFAT. Certain older peripheral devices may not be able to use exFAT, e.g. PS 4 works with exFAT but not PS 3, but between two modern OS computers exFAT is the way to go.
