Mevo Camera Use - Failed! Samsung S8 - Working

      Posted
      Persistence

I bought this specifically for a Mevo Camera since the listed online manufacturer number was the closest to matching a part number Mevo listed as a supported micro SD card. This specifically says it communicates faster for 4K video so I gave it a chance. I got repeated SD card Errors during recordings in the Mevo Camera. I tried fomatting it in the Mevo Camera, Windows 10 and Samsung S8. After each attempt, to record after a fresh format, I'd get an SD Card error. I decided to place this card in my S8 to see if it was possibly a defective card, but it has yet to give me trouble. (I don't record video on the SD Card, in the phone but I've been able to throw 46GB+ at it in the phone with no issues thus far.) So I got curious and moved my original older & slower 32GB Sandisk Ultra PLUS U1 card in the Mevo Camera and was able to record 2.5hrs.+ without SD card errors. Since I ran into trouble with this product in 1 of 2 devices, I won't recommend it as a go to product for anyone. (This was kind of a bummer since I've kind of gotten the impression that Sandisk was the go to brand for reliable SD card compatibility. Sadly I found out that is not true of all of their micro SD card product line.) :-(

I went in to purchase a different brand and size of sd card, based on what the manual for my phone strongly suggested. Unfortunately, they're weren't any on the shelf, nor in the back. Best Buy couldn't confirm when they would be ordered. The employee on the floor mentioned that the sd card I was after would not be very fast, and that it had a history of having problems. He then kindly suggested this one. He mentioned I would be a lot happier with the performance, the speed, and the fact that it was double in size. The downside was that it was $15 more than I had originally thought I would be paying, but even at that, it was on sale for 50% off the original price. My husband was pretty excited about this, and so we purchased 2. We aren't anywhere near filling it up yet, but know we will. The last 32gb sd card I got, filled up very fast, and then my husbands got corrupted. This brand shouldn't have the issue of getting corrupted, and now we can enjoy having more pictures, music, and other files on our phones than we thought. Overall, we were very pleased with the employee that suggested this sd card for us. We're happy with our purchase.

I bought this SD card to work with my new GoPro HERO 4 Silver edition. This card is specifically recommended on GoPro's website. I did get an error on the camera "SD ERR" after inserting in the micro SD card slot. This was quickly remedied by formatting the card while the card was in the camera. PRO TIP: formatting the card from the touch screen did NOT work. I had to use the front screen and navigate using the front and top buttons...the steps to do so are below pasted directly from GoPro's website: Power ON your camera with the SD card inserted. Press the front (Power) button repeatedly until you see Setup (gear icon) on the camera’s screen. Press the top (Shutter) button one time. Press the front Power button repeatedly until the trashcan icon is highlighted. Press the Shutter button one time to select the trashcan icon. Press the Power button until “ALL/Format” is highlighted. Press the Shutter button one time to select “ALL/Format”. Press the Power button until “Delete” is highlighted. Press the Shutter button one time to select “Delete”. Your camera’s LED will indicate that your SD card is being reformatted.

Averaging out of 12 speed tests i got an average of about 81MB/s both Read and Write out of this, using a USB3.0 adapter on a USB3.0 port, its by far the fastest microSD card i have out of the lot, it is a UHS-III class SD card, same as the Sandisk Extreme and the Lexar 633x, however the Extreme Plus averages write speeds almost twice as fast as the Extreme (52MB/s) and the 633x (45MB/s) that i have. while the other two UHS-III class rated MicroSD cards i own are more than capable of taking on the task of writing the 45MB/s bitrate of my GoPro Hero 3 Black and the 35MB/s bitrate of my Xiaomi Yi, i will possibly not be able to use them for future camera purchases, whether it be the GoPro Hero5 or the Xiaomi Yi 2 as current GoPro Hero 4 runs at 60MB/s im sure the next generation of action cameras will need a minimum of that barring some sort of revolutionary Pied Piper compression algorithm.

cell phone and my Nvidia Shield tablet. Lots of space good transfer speeds and none of the 3 cards have failed me. 64gbs when full is a lot of data to lose because of a failure. While I still religiously back up my data (I have had in the past a few hard drive failures and a SD stick failure with no back ups) If I forget one my my scheduled back up sessions I am not overly concerned. At the time I bought these I got a really really good deal. No complaints here. Also on my Shield tablet I am able to play games stored on my card without any adverse effects. I am currently using theSanDisk - Ultra 128GB microSDXC Class 10 Memory Card in my tablet and I store movies/music on this 64gb card for use (again for fear of losing data it is no sweat for me to pop out the 128 and put the 64 in if I want to watch a movie. I have been using 2 of these cards in our phones Samsung s4s for over a year now as well as my tablet and I have nothing to complain about. All and all sandisk over all has not failed me "yet" (knocks on wood)

I use the SD Card Adapter with this micro-sd card and it works well when used with my Canon DSLR Camera (I happen to take a LOT of photos when I start enjoying my daily walks/tours/activities .. so it is a good thing to have a number (at least 6) of these cards ready to go in my case for the day and perhaps the next one too (I do shoot in the RAW mode .. so for my own purposes, the files are far larger than the jpg files and I find that (depending on the lens used during the shoots .. ) I also can do burst shoots (As long as I am aware of the limits of the camera/battery pack itself .. that's the determiner here) I tend to keep this many on hand for the fact that it is not always convenient to download the day's shoots to the external drives (I am a bit older now, so I get tired more easily). The reliability of the Cards is good.

I’m not knowledgeable enough regarding flash memory to sit here and compare it to other cards. All I can tell you is it works great for me. I primarily bought this for my Galaxy s5, my first new phone in 4 years. I put as much as I can on the card (apps, pics, etc.) and have had no problem with regards to accessing saved data or the speed it operates at. In fact, compared to the other flash memory I have used, it is blindingly fast. I also got it at a good price on Best Buy’s daily deal which influenced my decision to buy it. If you are looking to put this into a cell phone or use it for backing stuff up from your computer it will work great. This will probably even work great for a low end (10 mega-pixel ) to medium end (14-16 mega-pixel) cameraa, but anything high end you might want to do a little more reading. Also I could see compatibility being a bigger problem in older devices.

Ordered the SDSQXSG-064G-ANCMA, however, they sent me the SDSQXWG-064G-ANCMA instead. Nice surprice. For those who dont know, the WG's have the v30 and A1 stamped on them. The SG's do not. Probably just a marketing thing, but I believe the WG's are newer and I wanted the latest and greatest. Excellent speeds. I only order the Extreme Plus for years now. These are fast. 90 MB/s plus seq reads and nearly 90 MB/s seq writes. Perfect! This is with a USB 3.0 adapter, of course. You wont get that speed with the built in reader on most laptops, and probably not with most devices. However, for those that can use it, this is perfect speeds. I would buy these again in a heartbeat when on sale.
