Q: QuestionI want to create a small PA system. Will this mic work if connected to an iphone, that is connected to a blue-tooth speaker? Do I need an app for this?
Asked by ScottyJ.
- A:Answer No, this will not work like that, nor would any Lighting microphone. Apple does not let other Bluetooth products connect when using Lightning for audio, only their AirPods work and only with select apps, like Filmic Pro. Your best bet would be to look at the Saramonic SmartRig+Di and a wired lavalier like the Saramonic LavMic into the SmartRig+Di and have the headphone output of the SmartRig+Di plug into a speaker's 3.5mm input. Slightly antiquated, but would work when incorporating an iPhone. If you just need a mic into a powered speaker, there are a ton of products that Saramonic has that would work so much easier without an iPhone in the mix.

Q: QuestionHas anyone tried this mic in windy conditions? If so, how did it perform?
Asked by Wind.
- A:Answer Foam windscreens (like the one included) perform pretty well outside in light to mid-level wind. But when it gets really windy, a furry windscreen is needed. Like the Saramonic LM-WS 3-Pack of Furry Windscreens. That is true with any Lavalier.

Q: QuestionMy sister has a dementia that makes it difficult for her to speak. She's in MIchigan, and I'm in New York. We've been zooming with an iPhone her aide has, and were wondering if this microphone would amplify her voice, plugged into an iPad
Asked by Ruth.
- A:Answer This would amplify her voice, but unfortunately with the mobile app from Zoom it does not allow you to select the speaker on the iPhone and the output while using an external microphone like this. This is much easier with computers and maybe a USB microphone, like our SR-ULM10 (also sold at Best Buy) because the computer Zoom app allows you to use the laptop's speaker and an external microphone. What I might suggest as a better alternative that will work fluidly with Zoom is a pair of Bluetooth headphones with a microphone. This will allow your sister to hear you and allow you to hear her better because the microphone on the Bluetooth headphones is right at mouth level. If you have some more questions or there is anything I could do to help you out and explain more, contact our support team and ask for the email to be sent to Joe: support@saramonicusa.com Best of luck.

Q: QuestionCan You hear the person on the other side even if you are wearing a mask and can you hear clearly like on a zoom call?
Asked by User1874.
- A:Answer That would depend on how clearly the person speaks with the mask on. If they don't annunciate, it's going to sounds like a mumble. What a person who is standing near them hears with their ears, is very similar to what the lavalier will pick up. Another way to get a better sound is to mount the lavalier closer to the subjects's mouth. Because the sound waves are blocked by the mask, they won't travel as far as easily so bringing the Lavalier a little closer is the best bet.

Q: QuestionCan I use the mic while I video record on the same phone
Asked by Marr.
- A:Answer Absolutely, that is what it is designed for. Make sure you plug in the microphone before you launch the app so the video app recognizes you are using an external microphone. Close the camera app completely before you plug in the microphone and then re-launch the app after it is plugged in for best results.

Q: QuestionI enjoy how it sounds but can’t get it to work consistently. What’s the proper way to use this so that it works every time
Asked by MSanchez.
- A:Answer This is a really easy fix. You need to make sure you plug in the LavMicroU1A before you launch the camera or recording app. If the app is already open, close it, plug in the LavMicroU1A and relaunch the app. Otherwise the app will not know you are using an external mic. There are also some premium apps that allow you to select external mic or internal mics, like Filmic Pro.

Q: QuestionMy mom has a hearing aid running through her iPhone. She can hear calls through the hearing aid but needs to hold her phone up to speak (hearing aid doesn't have a mic) Will this work as a mic along with the hearing aid? Thank you...
Asked by Williepep.
- A:Answer No, This mic is not suitable for phone calls. Plus, when you connect this microphone to your iPhone it disables the microphone on the iPhone and the speaker on the iPhone. In my opinion the internal microphone on the iPhone should be suitable for her to speak into without needing an external mic. She just needs to make sure she is annunciating clearly and is close enough to the phone. If she is doing that her hearing aid will let her hear better and the person on the other side of the call should be able to hear her clearly as well. I hope that helps.

Q: QuestionIs this compatible with a macbook pro?
Asked by Cindy.
- A:Answer Yes, but its a female Aux Port so you need an Aux male to Aux Male extension to plug it in. Unless you have a Lighting Port on your macbook, it wont work out of box. It you have a Lightning Port to USB A plugged into your mac, can confirm it will work that way. It also works perfectly on your Iphone.
