A: It is that deep when you count the handle. We build houses and have put this microwave in the island in over 15 houses and our buyers love It. Fits in a standard 24" drawer base cabinet. It slides right in with very little modification. Take out the top 2 drawers and build a shelf then slide in the microwave. One left over drawer can be used to trim if needed

Solid Microwave in Expensive Drawer Form Factor
Solid drawer microwave. While I wouldn't recommend the drawer form factor as it is typically much more expensive than other types of microwaves (especially free standing). The Sharp brand builds reliable drawer units and this one works well. The previous model we had lasted almost 20 years.
