Great game!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you love the previous series Shenmue 1&2, you will love this too! Compared to yakuza series, this game has more stories and character development, suggest playing the first 2 games.

Good, not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy had a great deal going for this game, and it came with a steelbook case. If you enjoyed the first two Shenmue games back in the day(or at least liked the collection that was released a while back), you'll probably enjoy this too. Unfortunately the game feels dated. The Yakuza series, often referred to as its spiritual successor, handles everything better and has a better story and more interesting characters. People interested in Shenmue 3 are most likely in it for the nostalgia. We've been waiting to play that game of Lucky Hit for "darn" near 20 years, and that's OK. Somewhat dated, yet enjoyable game, but it is not the definitive end of the series fans were hoping for.

My review on Shenmue III
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shenmue 3 (Review) Well after 2 decades Shenmue 3 finally arrived and I finished it, the big question is how did it feels. The game starts right after where Shenmue 2 ended and immediately you realize that it's a familiar world. I am not going to spoil any story here but game consist on Two main areas Bailu Village and Niawou. Graphics: There is absolutely no doubt that game environments are beautiful and well detailed, kudos to Yu Suzuki for maintaining the same graphical theme as the previous Shenmue games. Main Character looks good but NPCs are some what feels off and weird and you can feel where the team took a short cuts due to budget constraint. Performance wise the Frame rate is uncapped on PS4 mostly ranging between mid 30s to 40s on base PS4 Source (Digital foundry) and native Resolution on Base PS4 is 856p and 1080p on Pro. Overall Game is Beautiful and uniquely created. Sound: Shenmue 3 sound tracks are absolutely beautiful, it give the game same vibe as the previous games did. Yu Suzuki Used Old Tracks from previous games and also included some new ones. Corey Marshall once again provided voice acting for Ryo Hazuki and I was so surprised that his voice didn't change a bit in last two decades, however dialogues are as clumsy as they were before. Gameplay: Gameplay wise game improved from its predecessors and felt good, The new fighting system is well balanced and addictive. I want to give a credit to Yu Suzuki and it's team for not only carrying out the old game mechanics but also adding some new tricks to it. Verdict: Let me be clear on one thing Shenmue 3 is not for everyone but if you loved the previous games then you are gonna love it also. In this modern era of games Shenmue 3 is different and unique, credit to Yu Suzuki and his team for retaining the original Shenmue vibe. This is the game made for fans and I am very happy to finally played it. If you want some thing unique and different then you should try it out. 8.5 out of 10

Not for everyone.....
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a fan of this series since the Dreamcast days. Upon booting and playing this game for the first few hours felt like bliss! Everything from the music to the exploration and chatting with locals felt very reminiscent of the original Dreamcast games. Now that I've put in over 20 hours the nostalgia seems to have worn off a bit. I can now open minded see this game for what it is flaws and all. Even though I accept these flaws. Let me cut to the chase. This game isn't for everyone though. It's a very slow paces game that includes a lot of what's to be considered "fetch quest" (go find this item and take it to this person). It's done so much to the point where it's a slow grind. And I think that it artificially makes the game play longer than it needs to be. There are some performance issues as well. I see constant frame drops, and the lip synching is terrible just as it was on the Dreamcast games. While the graphics and color choices do look nice, this game doesn't feel like a 2019 game. As a fan, I do enjoy the series but this game could have been so much better.

Fan of the series? Buy it. New to it? Buy on sale.

But overall, the mechanics, dialogue, spirit of the game is very archaic. I’m sure its meant to be this way in order to keep to the classic feel of the two older games. But it was pretty jarring for me being new to the series and clunking my way through the intro, feeling like I was playing a 15-20 year old game with remastered visuals/audio. I stopped pretty abruptly after about an hour of gameplay. I will be returning to finish the game eventually as I do have a pretty large backlog and I DO feel like I can still enjoy this game once I situate myself in the correct mindset, but I would recommend buying this on sale as I did for around 8$. It also includes the steelbook, which was my main drive to buy as I love collectibles. I’m sure a fan of the series will find this more enjoyable and enthralling from the get-go, but for me it will take some time for the story completely catch my attention.

Q: QuestionIs the steel book a limited time only thing ?
Asked by Horizon.
- A:Answer I think it's only when you pre-order the game. Maybe if they have extras they will seek them. Who knows.
