I love the ASUS motto: "In Search of Incredible" AWESOME!!!!! I was able to get this on sale on the Best Buy website, by adding it to my 'tell me when there's a deal' option, so if you can be patient that is a great thing to consider taking advantage of. Things I like: the speed, no more having to walk away when I do a reboot. The screen is nice and clear. The installed software is nice. Since ASUS is in search of the INCREDIBLE - In the manual there is a disclaimer that states: there is a risk of possible 'burn in' on AUSU models that have a "OLED" display - it would be REALLY nice if they told you how to determine if your model has a OLED display. - This model: F1605VA-BS74 - is LED NOT OLED - so we good to go. The power cord is one of those power cords that have a 'box' at the end where the prongs are so when you plug the power cord in, the plug often takes up more than 1 outlet space. FYI the top paragraph of their manual is FRENCH on page 10 :-) I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the backlit keyboard EXCEPT.... when the room is bright......I will need to add some of those stick on keyboard letters - it would be nice if a set was included, OR I love the silver, but white light behind a silver keyboard has very little contrast - maybe a different backlit color It would be awesome if there was a search function in the ASUS app - let me say this again - IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF THE ASUS HAD A SEARCH FUNCTION :-) Would be nice to be able to easily print the computer specs from the AUSU app....The only place I found complete tech specs were in a popup window and it would not allow me to copy inside the window - so the only way I would be able to print it would be to do a bunch of screenshots. Lastly - There was an offer included with the laptop that states :"Register and Receive one year of complimentary Accident Damage Protection (ADP) so that when accidents happen we have you covered. - Which I did - that is I registered my laptop - however in the AUSU app it does not show that I have the coverage - Yes I have contacted ASUS, and to make a long story short they say I DO have the coverage.....I asked when I would be able to 'see' it on my ASUS app, and they do not know.

Don’t listen to the uninformed. This laptop supports more that 32 GB of RAM. I am currently running it with 48 GB (the original 16 GB stick plus an additional 32 GB stick). I also replaced the solid state m.2 drive with a 2 TB disc. This thing is a beast, even before the upgrade. The i7 13th gen processor cuts trough my complex Excel files about twice as fast as my old computer. Also, this laptop runs on Windows 10 or Windows 11, but of course Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows 10 soon. Touchpad is responsive which I really like. Battery can be replaced by removing the bottom cover if needed. I like that this laptop comes with an empty RAM slot. Trying to think of any complaints…wish it had an Ethernet port so I don’t have to use my USB adapter. That’s about it.

Generally speaking this is an OK laptop but it has a number of problems. I was disappointed that there was no ethernet connection: only Wi-Fi, so poor download and upload speed. Asus claims the screen is a 16" but it is actually an elongated 14" screen. The difference is that you can see more of your document, for example, as the screen is taller rather than wider. A fact that was not disclosed by Asus. It has the same footprint as my 4 year old 14" laptop! Why should you care? If you don't ever plan to connect to an external monitor then it won't be a problem. But if you do, every time you disconnect from the external monitor the apps that were on the external monitor will no longer display correctly on the laptop screen. The ratio of horizontal to vertical sizing will not match. The keyboard layout is awful as well. Remember, the footprint is the same as a 14" yet my old laptop of 4-1/2 years has a far better layout. Number 1: the numeric keypad on the Asus is narrower. It has only 3 columns. The missing 4th column is supposed to include addition and subtraction. Those keys have been put (row above 7, 8, 9) where numlock, division, and multiplication are supposed to be (multiplication key replaced by numlock). Number 2: I chose this system because it has a backlit keyboard. Unfortunately the alphanumeric keys are a milky white on silver keys. The lighting is dull white making the keys difficult to see given certain lighting conditions. Normally, the alphanumerics are milky white with black keys and the back lighting is orange, thus making it easy to see the keys regardless of surrounding lighting conditions.
