      It's a "Meh" game

Sonic Forces is just average from what I played. It's a step down compared to Sonic Generations. There's no drifts, no customizations for boosts & other skills (if you ever played Generations). For Modern Sonic, even when you boost, it doesn't feel quite as fast as he did in Generations & about half the time, the game goes auto-pilot on certain curves & turns slightly for you, even when you hold the boost button, which kinda annoyed me because it feels like they don't think you'll be able to beat the stages on your own. Classic Sonic has some of the worst physics & momentum when you play as him although his stages aren't bad. You just have to get used to landing platforms on his weird air momentum. That's pretty much it. As for the Avatar... I thought it was gonna be the worst part of the game only to end up being my favorite (which isn't saying much). The Avatar char. has a weapon called Wispon which lets you use different types of Wisps: Burst is a flamethrower, Lightning is an electric whip kinda weapon, just to give an example. Getting a Wisp item of your choice will grant you a Super, depending on which Wisp you choose, such as the Burst gives you an exploding jump to get to higher platforms & lightning gives you a ring/enemy dash. From a person who likes Modern Sonic stages in Sonic Generations, my favorite out of the three is the Avatar stages with Modern Sonic being my least favorite because of certain parts of each stages where Sonic goes auto-pilot & he has a few QTEs for some reason. The bosses weren't all that great either. Boost, homing attack 3 times, rinse & repeat for most of them. I'd give it a 6/10. It's not a bad Sonic game but it's not a great Sonic game. It's a meh Sonic game. If I we're you, I'd wait for a price drop (around $20 or so).

I am not disappointed by this game, but I am also not satisfied. I love sonic, and the franchise, but I feel like Sonic Team and SEGA had a lot of potential with this game. there are roughly 30 stages to the plot, with most if not all the stages being roughly 2 to 4 minutes long. I feel like a bit more time could have been devoted to the story, either making the stages longer or adding more stages. a good 50 stages would have been perfect! OVER ALL. I really enjoyed this game. took me about 3 hours to finish. Do i recommend this game? YES. yes i do. especially if you are a long time fan. the music in sonic games are always perfect! and i really enjoyed the story. if you buy this game, you will have a memorable time with it!

My son loved this, I bought it for him for Christmas. Yes it's great, no it's not as great as the old school side scrolling Sonic games, but that's only because it's not a side scrolling Sonic game. That's the only thing I feel that's different between modern Sonic vs old school Sonic. If your a true Sonic fan you'll love it. It's a great edition to the sonic series.

I was really hoping that this game would be on par with Sonic Generations, but it wasn't. If you're looking for a Sonic game (modern or classic), Sonic Mania is the game to get. If you want a more modern feel, then I recommend getting Sonic Generations. Especially if you have a PC. It's a much better game.

After the surprise that was Sonic Mania earlier in 2017, Sonic Forces represents an unfortunate step back to typical mediocrity for modern Sonic games. Uneven difficulty, questionable level design and pacing, and a weak create-a-character option add up to another Sonic disappointment. Avoid this one until the price drops.

I had fun with my time with Sonic Forces, but that fun didn't really last long. I beat the game in about 4 hours, and for a AAA title that costs 60 bucks, that's not really acceptable. I also ran into a lot of bugs that are pretty hair pulling.

The premise is that you can play as 3 characters: Sonic, Classic Sonic, and your avatar. Stages are too short. The level designs are not so great and the moment they get good, the stages end. The dialogue and the cutscenes are incoherent with each other. Sega could've done better with this one.

This new Sonic melds the old-school style of Classic Sonic with the free-running 3D experience of the later Sonic games. It is great to see so many familiar faces from previous Sonic games in high-resolution. This is a fun addition to the series!
