Q: Does it have the physical buttons for volume up and down?
A: Hi SleepyMalo408, thank you for your inquiry! The WH-1000XM6 do not feature traditional physical buttons for volume control. The headphones features two dedicated physical buttons: one for powering ON/OFF and another for toggling between noise canceling and ambient sound modes. Additionally, it incorporates a touch sensor control panel on the right earcup, enabling to adjust the volume with simple swipe gestures for a more intuitive experience. A: Hello taylor, Thank you for reaching out to Sony! We appreciate your inquiry and are happy to assist. While using Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones during sweat-inducing activities won’t immediately affect audio quality, prolonged exposure to sweat can cause issues. To prevent rust, deterioration, or mold, please wipe the headphones with pure water-type wet wipes after use and let them dry at room temperature. This care is crucial, as moisture can affect noise-canceling performance. Q: Can I charge the headphones while in wired mode?
A: Hi jbacon27! We are very glad to address your question about charging your WH-1000XM6 headphones while using them in wired mode. Yes, you absolutely can! Your WH-1000XM6 headphones are designed so you can continue to enjoy your music or audio even while they're charging. Please keep in mind a couple of important points: If the battery is already above 80% when you start charging while using the headphones, the charging process will pause once it reaches around 80% to help optimize battery life. Additionally, you may notice a faint electrical noise during charging, depending on your environment; this is entirely normal and does not impact the performance of your headphones. I recently upgraded from my Sony MDR-1000X headphones, which I’ve owned since 2016, to the new Sony WH-1000XM6, and the difference is night and day. The sound quality of the XM6 is incredible. Everything from music to audiobooks sounds so much clearer and more balanced, with crisp highs and punchy lows that the MDR-1000X just couldn’t match. The spatial audio feature is a game-changer; it makes watching TV shows feel like I’m in a movie theater, with sound that wraps around me in a way the older model never could. I didn’t realize what I was missing until now. The Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANAC) is another huge improvement. With more microphones and a faster processor, the XM6 blocks out noise like never before, it’s like having my quiet bubble. The battery life is also amazing, offering up to 30 hours with ANC on, which is perfect for long trips. I used to worry about charging my MDR-1000X, but with the XM6, that’s no longer an issue. The design is sleeker and more comfortable, and the hard-shell case is much better for traveling. There are also cool new features like Bluetooth LE Audio and a 10-band equalizer, which let me customize my listening experience even more. Overall, the WH-1000XM6 is a fantastic upgrade. Sony has outdone themselves, and I’m thrilled with my purchase!

For comparison, I have these and the Bose Quiet Comfort as well as several different ANC earbuds and none of these comes close to the noise cancelling as well as passthrough audio quality. A paper shredder running right next to me is just slightly audible that something is running, but if you actually turn on music, you can't hear it at all. You do feel a slight amount of "pressure" with ANC mode on and no sound playing, but it's better than my bose headphones, and I don't notice it at all when music is playing. I can comfortably wear these for hours without any sort of earphone fatigue and never felt it was too tight for my slightly larger than average sized head. Even though the headphone speaker part twists, it's not that comfortable to wear it around your neck as it's a bit tight, but workable in a pinch for a short amount of time. The audio quality out of the box is very good, but I love that it has a 10 band EQ that you can adjust to even fine tune the sound to your exact liking. It has a bunch of presets and you can make your own custom EQs as well. It has settings to make the audio sound like background cafe music if you like working while just "ambient" sound is playing. Battery life so far is excellent and for me at least, I can go multiple days on a single charge. With that said, I do have three complaints with the headphones. It has that really soft feeling rubbery/silicone feel which feels great, but I haven't had luck with that material lasting for 4+ years so I am worried if it will hold up for many years. The material at least with my black color will pick up some oil smudges, especially around the earcups. It's not too bad on the frame, but it is noticable if you're looking for it. The last issue is the price. It is not cheap, but it does fall in line with many other higher end headphones. With sales of other headphones happening regularly though, that may be more appealing than these headphones. Overall, if you feel that ANC is the most important then this is the headphones for you. It offers great sound with a good feature set, but just be aware that there are other audiophile headphones out there that can give this a run for its money.

I had the previous generation Sony WH-1000XM5s, and the XM6s have only improved on those already amazing headphones. These news ones have a larger headband, meaning that they distribute the weight better on your head, resulting in a more comfortable experience. Additionally, the padding on the ear cuffs was made a bit thicker, and for me, that surprisingly personally made a big difference in my experience. The sound quality also gets a sizable upgrade. Sony redesigned the drivers and vocals sound clearer, individual instruments in songs sound more crisp, and you the bass sounds more natural and less muddy than the previous generation. The noise cancelation is also shockingly better. Lastly, the carrying case is a small but much welcomed upgrade. Smaller and more convenient, the case now uses a strong magnetic clasp to stay shut opposed to a zipper. It means in 5 seconds, you can go to taking the carrying case out of your bag and have them on your head turned on. Overall, these headphones are well worth it if you’re looking for the best of the best on the market in terms of sound quality, comfort, and portability. Would easily recommend to anyone looking for a new pair of quality and premium headphones.
