As an amateur photographer I try to give my perspective on the world the way I see things through the lens so that others can enjoy that experience and frozen moment in time. Having used native prime lenses as well as native telephoto lenses, the Tamarin 18-300 mm lens for Sony is a new for me. I picked it up mainly for travel and close quarter bird photography. The lens pairs nicely with my Sony a6300 providing me with an effective 27-450mm/35mm equivalent focal length. The zoom ring can feel a bit stiff but that’s fine as it does not allow lens creep. Since the lens is small and compact it doesn’t feel front end heavy when fully extended. When paired with my a FF Sony keep in mind that your megapixel count will drop due to super 35 mode. For example, when paired with my 24 megapixel Sony A73, I lose 14 megapixels (14 million pixels) of light resolution. Still not a big deal for me and shouldn’t be for anyone as long as you know what you are doing before you click your shutter leaving minimal work for post processing. While the lens has rubber gaskets to prevent dust and moisture from entering and damaging the elements, I still wipe mines down or dust with an air bladder just to be sure. It’s nice that Tamaron offers an extended 6 year warranty on their lens as well. Overall I am very pleased with the quality, reliability, and results of this lens as I used it with the barrel fully extended in light sun showers and no water or moisture entered to the elements. Attacked are 10 megapixel photos. Bet ya can’t tell the difference.

Great lens. Upgraded from sony 55-210mm. The extra zoom range is amazing. And having the wider 18mm save me from carrying two lens. Image quantity is also an improvement.

Purchased for an upcoming Alaskan Cruise. I own the Sony 70-350 osd and kit lenses but did not want to have to exchange lenses out in this trip. I took some test shots last night and admit I am impressed with this kens. I look forward to my Cruise and many adventures with this lens and my A6000 setup.
