An interesting germ that didn't grow
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not seen this remake since it came out on DVD in 2009. I was worried I wouldn't like it as I did back then, and to my surprise, I didn't hate it. It has a lot of interesting ideas that validate and update this remake, but unfortunately, the weakest part of the movie is the script. The dialogue is way too focused on explaining everything at times and it has a few questionable scenes and character decisions. After listening to the commentary with the writer and realizing that this was made during the writer's strike it totally made sense. I really enjoyed Keanu Reeves as Klatu and Gort as Gort. Gort is such a cool improvement over the classic robot. Overall, I enjoyed and appreciated the many ideas they were playing with and introducing even though it didn't always follow through with them. This disc houses a lot of special features that are insightful, like the screenwriter talking about what problems they were having in crafting scenes and providing depth behind certain characters that come and go. A praise worthy remake of Classic
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In some respects not as good as original, in other respects it is far superior. I always found the original to be a tad boring in parts, but this version is full of action and twists on the storyline that make it fresh viewing. Gort in the original was awesome back in the 50's but this newer Gort is more menacing and a lot larger. Keanu Reeves is great as Klaatu.

A good remake
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original of 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' is an amazing masterpiece and I can see why people are quick to judge with this remake of the classic. I watched this with open arms and an open mind and really really enjoyed it. I think Keanu Reeves is the perfect actor for the part he took in this film. He always seemed mysterious, weird, and most importantly, alien. If you enjoyed the original, please watch this without the intention of critiquing it for its bad aspects and you WILL have a great time enjoying the remake!

Does he really save day?
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s time to pull the plug on us Earthlings, but do we deserve a second chance? Great CGI simple story, we’re all gonna die...but wait....we can change! Yeah right! Really? I love this sci-fi remake of the old classic film, best seen in blu-ray.

Enjoyable Remake of a Classic
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a re-make of a classic, there's enough changes and twists in how the story is told and the outcome to enjoy this film on its own merits. I had not seen it in the theatre so glad I purchased this; will definitely watch again.

Different than the original
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most people hated this movie. It's different than the original. Interesting. Sort of reminds me of The Arrival movie. Just a bit.
