Ordered these 8th WD Red Plus drives for my home security cameras. I upgraded my system to 16 channels from 8 channels. The 8 channel NVR had (2) 4tb WD Red Plus drives I previously purchased, for well over a year with no issues. Did a full scan on them and no bad sectors or issues running 24/7. Looking forward to the 8th drives to produce the same expectations as the 4tb drives did.

The drive is fairly quiet and I haven't noticed them running hot in my Synology NAS. I had no problems about them being recognized and formatted either. I bought the larger size because it guaranteed that it would be CMR rather than SMR.

I am using the WD Red Plus 8TB NAS Internal Hard Drive in my home lab, and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance. The drive delivers consistent reliability and speed, making it an excellent choice for home lab setups and NAS environments. While operating, it is mostly silent, with only occasional mild sounds, which are not disruptive. Overall, it strikes a great balance between performance, capacity, and noise levels. Highly recommended for anyone looking to build or expand a home lab or NAS system.
