III Valentine was an infantry tank produced in the United Kingdom during World War II, with more than 8,000 units manufactured across eleven marks and various specialized variants, representing about a quarter of British wartime tank production. Variants included riveted and welded construction, petrol and diesel engines, and progressively upgraded armament. It was supplied in large numbers to the USSR, built under license in Canada, and used extensively by British forces in the North African campaign. Developed by Vickers, the Valentine proved to be both strong and reliable, which was uncommon for British tanks of the period.
