Islet - Eyelet - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing including . A Powys trio whose free-spirited invention and exuberant intensity flows through experimental pop hypnotic, exhilarating and defiantly unique. The Welsh band Islet return with the of their long-awaited new album. Eyelet was recorded at home tucked away in the hills of rural Mid Wales. It took form the months following the birth of band members Emma and Mark Daman Thomas' second child and the death of fellow band member Alex Williams' mother. Alex came to live with Emma and Mark, and the band enlisted Rob Jones (Pictish Trail, Charles Watson) to produce. 'Caterpillar' described by Emma as 'a song for my unborn child'. It's followed by syncopated lullaby 'Good Grief' with it's haunting keyboard hook and icy percussion thawed by Emma's yearning vocals about the quiet strength of generations of women. With nods towards Arthur Russell and Jenny Hval, 'Geese' is a mini symphony of driven electronica inspired by Welsh cultural theorist Raymond Williams' novel People Of The Black Mountains. Young Fathers inflected rhythm can be heard on 'Radel 10' that accompanies the multi-tracked variations of Emma and defiant lyrics that were inspired in part by The Good Immigrant - the landmark anthology of essays on race and immigration by BAME writers.

Brian Bromberg - Full Circle - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Brian Bromberg indeed completes a full circle here on his new recording, meaning, he started his musical career on the drums and now returns to sit behind the kit. Guests include Alex Acuna, Charlie Bishirat, Bob Sheppard, Mitch Forman, Arturo Sandoval, Lee Thornburg, Kirk Whalum plus more. This 360 view is most exemplified by the repertoire - Full Circle is pretty much a straight-ahead jazz date unlike anything of Brian's career and yes, he does play a bunch of bass too. There is no guitar on this recording. All guitar-sounding tracks are played on a piccolo bass. Brian's piccolo bass on this recording is an arched top hollow body bass guitar that is tuned to the register of a guitar, one full octave and a fourth above standard bass tuning.

Aborted - La Grande Mascarade - VINYL LP

For the first time ever on vinyl with special vinyl mastering. Black Vinyl with heavy cover and insert. Belgian death metal veterans Aborted delivered the goods with the EP InchLa Grande MascaradeInch - and now it's finally available on vinyl. Three tracks that showed the band still knew how to bring the pain after all these years, without forgetting their roots. The EP worked perfectly as an appetizer between full albums, delivering exactly what Aborted fans wanted technical perfection paired with the raw intensity that has made them one of Europe's most important extreme metal bands for years. The opener InchGloom and the Art of TribulationInch set the tone immediately - nearly five minutes where technical death metal was skillfully woven together with dark, atmospheric passages. InchSerpent of DepravityInch and InchFunereal MaledictionInch maintained the standard effortlessly, featuring the precise riffs and Sven de Caluwé's unmistakable vocal style that the scene has respected for years. Each track demonstrated that Aborted had mastered their craft perfectly blast beats met complex guitar work, brutal breakdowns alternated with technical finesse. The whole thing was produced so that both the technical details came through and the raw aggression that defines the Aborted sound. This first-time vinyl pressing brings out the full force of the band particularly well - a must-have for anyone who takes their extreme metal collection seriously.
