this was a very different film then the first two films. ripley is now alone on a penal colony with her good friend the alien which has followed her again. if that is not bad enough ripley is carrying an alien inside of her. by this time the producers of the film were thinking along the lines of alien vs predator and weaver wanted nothing to do with that franchise so at the end of the film ripley makes the ultimate sacrifice. i managed to get my hands on the extended edition of this film and liked it better than this one but it seems this was the only one best buy had at this great price.

This movie gets a lot of hate, and some of it is deserved. The theatrical version is producer meddling at its finest. But the alternate edition is (in my opinion) much more enjoyable and definitely worth the $8 asking price. If you're a fan of the Alien franchise, it's worth a watch. Just don't expect it to live up to the first two films.

It's no Alien or Aliens, but it's way better than everything else that came after it in the Alien series. Sigourney Weaver and the rest of the cast do a fine job with what's given and the tone of the film feels like a natural progression from what's come before. The set and characters designs as well as the look for the film are great. It's just too bleak at certain points, especially the ending. It feels like it goes to far for pure shock value at times. Getting rid of Hicks and Newt from Aliens also sucked. Overall though, I wasn't bored and hey, it was better than Alien: Resurrection.
