A: Ice maker took a good 24 hours the first time to make ice. My installer recommended throwing out the first 3 bins as to assure clean ice there after. Also run about 3 or 4 gallons of water from the dispenser to clean the lines before using.
Q: How do you know when to replace the water filter?
A: RichK, there is an indicator light on the Refrigerator controls that will indicate when the water filter needs replacing.
A: Yes it is loud, not the motor but something whistles inside and they are calling it the motor, motors don’t whistle

Very Nice Fridge for the Price!
We installed this Amana - 24.5 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Stainless Steel Refrigerator with Water and Ice Dispenser about a month ago. So far it's been working great. (Fingers crossed.) This is our first side-by-side fridge with an ice & water dispenser, and we absolutely love these features. I picked up a couple of cheap fridge thermostats at hardware store (one for fridge, one for freezer) and so far the temps for both have remained spot on. Some reviewers complained that this fridge and/or the ice dispenser are too noisy, but we think both are really a minimal level of noise. No louder than our old fridge, and that never bothered us. Its really nice to have so much more space in both the fridge & the freezer than we ever had before. The door shelves seem pretty solid and hold a lot of stuff. Even though there is no 3rd sliding drawer dedicated just for cold cuts and cheeses, the other 2 drawers hold an awful lot of stuff. A few other reviewers have also complained about the shelving. Again, we don't see any problems in this area. Others have also complained about the position of the water dispenser being so close to the ice dispenser, and accidentally hitting the water when going for ice, leading to water running down the front of the door. Yet again, we have encountered no such issues with this whatsoever. I think as long as you don't get the rare lemon when the fridge is delivered to you, this fridge is a really nice model for the price. I highly recommend it, at least for now. If anything changes, I'll post an update later.

Amana at its best
Excellent refrigerator. Works like a charm and is quiet. Temperature is set perfectly. A lot of storage space for food on both the shelves and drawers. Door shelves are also spacious. Freezer has perfect space size to organize all frozen foods. This is our second Amana refrigerator and we love it.

Great value!
We have had less expensive refrigerators and we have owned 3 door models that cost more than this. This model is a great size, looks nice and is very functional. Black sides, in between the big deep models and the counter depth seems just right for our counters. Wish it had one more drawer for cheese.
