    Good Clean Power

Have been running my new beast machine off the UPS for a few weeks, smooth as silk. The Beast is a ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code motherboard, i7 7700K, EVGA GTX 1060, .M2 Samsung 960 Pro SSD, and two 1TB HDD's running Raid1 for quick backups off the SSD, EVGA 850 G2 PS, 5 140mm Fans and Liquid Cooling system. And some other stuff, all pulling quite a load on the juice. Have not had any power outages as of yet, but have tested w by unplugging the power from the UPS. Alarm beeping, the beast and monitor never skipped a beat. Have been using APC UPS's at home and in large server rooms for decades....still using them.

    Nice UPS for price

I have had a lot of family members who use UPSs from APC and have had good customer support when needed. APC makes a very good product and it is very easy to setup. The only down fall to it, is that I have two computers powered off of it and only one can be shut down if the power goes out. It would be nice if they shipped it with a small onboard webserver like printers do and allow you to have a piece of software that monitors it. Otherwise it is a great product.

A bit pricey but good UPS

I bought this UPS to protect my home PC and server as well as some home networking equipment. The unit itself is nice looking and doesn't take up much space. The display on the front is useful and with the equipment plugged in, the load is less than 40%. The only downside is the Windows software is terrible and doesn't seem to install properly on my Windows 7 Ultimate PC. I don't think it's a big deal to not use the software so not a big deal. The other downside is the cost. I know this isn't a Best Buy issue but it's a tough pill to swallow none the less.

    Very reliable ups device

Bought this ups to replace one that was too small and failing. The apc1500 exceeds my systems demands for power and works very reliably when the power goes out it safely and reliably saves my work and shuts my systems down.

    We beat the power outage!

I live in the Tampa Bay area. Tampa Bay is the lightning capital of the United States. In fact, that’s the reason that our hockey team is called the Tampa Bay Lightning. That being said, we experience lots of power outages. During the rainy season (summer) this can happen on a daily basis. Most of the outages only last for a few seconds to a few minutes. Even a very short outage creates problems for me because of my entertainment and communication setup. I don’t have traditional cable television or traditional phone service. I only have Internet service from the cable company. My setup is as follows: I have a cable modem/router, Ooma Telo system, cordless telephone base station, and cell phone booster. When we have a short power outage all of my systems go down and it takes about 15 minutes for everything to get back up and running. Now I have all of these items plugged into this new APC - Br1500G Power Saving Back UPS Rs 1500 that I purchased from Best Buy. Since I’ve started using this beauty I don’t have the problem anymore. It’s great and I wished I would have thought of doing this sooner. I am totally satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Questions & Answers
  • can it be used for u-verse digital home phone power backup; and how long does backup for wireless and phone only last ?

Thank you for your inquiry. The estimated power draw for the u-verse digital phone system is 75 watts. The BR1500G should support a 75 watt load load for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. You can also attach an external battery pack to this UPS, which increases the overall runtime. The part number is BR24BP.

  • I know that these are mainly used for computers and entertainment purposes, but if I had a different device in my home with the following energy information: 120volt - 3.4amp - 350watt - how long would the device last in the event of a power outage? Thks

Thank you for your interest in our product. The BR1500G would give you around 17 minutes of runtime with 350 watts of equipment connected to the unit. If you need additional runtime you can purchase an external battery pack for the unit. The part number for the external battery pack is BR24BP.

  • Two questions 1) If not entirely happy with purchase can I return to a local Best Buy store for refund or exchange? 2) How many times will this unit recharge a IPhone 8Plus in the event of a prolonged power outage?

Thank you for your inquiry. The BR1500G should charge your iPhone 8 Plus around 4 times before the UPS would need recharged. I would reach out to your local BestBuy store to see what their return policy is. If you were to have issues with the unit the unit would come with a 3 year warranty through us. If you do have issues with the unit please do not hesitate to reach out to an APCbySchneider support team.

  • How long to power desktop computer, monitor, modem, printer?

Thank you for your inquiry. The amount of runtime you will get on the BR1500G depends on the combined power consumption of the items plugged into the unit. To find the total wattage load, it is best to look at the technical specifications or user manuals for your computer, printer, monitor and modem. Monitors and modems usually have a low draw (this can vary depending on the model you have), so the more important task would be to find the wattage of the computer and printer. Once you have the combined wattage load, refer to the runtime graph via the link below to see how much time you will have on the BR1500G. Thank you. http://www.apc.com/products/runtimegraph/runtime_graph.cfm?base_sku=BR1500G&chartSize=large

  • Can I remotely access the unit to shutdown and power back on the equipment that is plugged into the unit?

Thank you for your inquiry. The BR1500G comes bundled with our Powerchute Personal Edition software, which allows for safe shutdown of the attached computer. You must connect the computer to the UPS via the included USB cable, so it is not considered remote access. For true remote access across a network, we would recommend one of our Smart-UPS and network management cards.
