A: You will need to pay with both, actually.
Q: These are very expensive. Can someone just use a typical HDMi cord?
A: I tried to use regular USB cords, Apple USB-C cords, and several online USB-C cords with no luck. I need to connect my Mac to Mac studio monitors, and the only cables that worked were the thunderbolt for cables from Apple.
