A nice chill little crafting focused JRPG.

Ryza 2 is pretty much what you'd expect from an atelier game, a fairly basic rpg story with a deep crafting system to get lost in. Simple as it is, the game's loop of going out into a dungeon, grabbing everything that isn't nailed down, then mcguyvering it into monster obliterating superweapons is always a good time. Like most recent atelier games there is no time limit either, keeping it a very relaxed experience, combat is atb rather than turn based, much like ryza 1, and is quite fun once you understand how it works. Do be aware that, like the last couple entries this game is Japanese audio only, with english text. The game is relatively short for a jrpg, so it's not a huge time investment, 100 percenting the game took me around 65 hours, but a ton of that time was spent playing around with crafting, a more casual playthrough would probably run around 20 hours, far less if you only do mandatory content. All in all a great little game, if you like mmo style crafting, or like jrpgs, and don't mind (or prefer) Japanese audio, you should enjoy it a great deal.

    A great follow up.

Another Great Addition to the Ryza story. If you like the Atelier series this is an easy pick up. Lots of RPG, lots of potion crafting. Lots of story and characters to explore.

    Fun exploration

Very good sequel. The story is interesting but the exploration is the best part. They really expanded on that. I feel they made the alchemy much easier with better explanations compared to the first game. Definitely recommend!

    Better than the first

Ryza 1 was a great game, and 2 works to improve upon it in every way. The visuals, gameplay and even story are a step up. I would recommend this to any fan of the first.

Questions & Answers
  • will this be upgraded if played on PS5? like wil it have a higher frame rate and resolution?

Yes, like many ps4 games released around the ps5's launch you can upgrade the ps4 physical version to a ps5 digital version (which will still requires the ps4 disc) for free, and can covert a ps4 save to ps5 via an upload/download utility in each version's main menu. The primary difference between the two is the ps5 version runs at 4k and 60fps rather than 1080p and 30fps.
