About this product

CD reissue. Atomic Rooster was an English progressive rock band originally composed of former members of the The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Throughout their history keyboardist Vincent Crane was the only constant member and wrote the majority of their material. Their history is defined by two periods the early-mid-1970s and the early 1980s. Their genre in music is difficult to define since they went through radical changes in very short times during the life of the band. However, their best-known era represented a more hard rock/progressive rock sound. This CD is a collection of the band's radio broadcasts tracks 1-2 recorded in session for Mike Harding Show 26.5.70; track 3 recorded in session for John Peel 14.1.71; tracks 4-5 recorded in session for Mike Harding 22.3.71; tracks 6-7 recorded in session for Johnnie Walker 12.6.72; tracks 8-9 recorded in session for Johnnie Walker 7.12.72; tracks 10-12 recorded in session 16.10.81; and tracks 13-15 recorded in session for Live 27.7.72.

Alberto Ferro - Etudes-Tableaux - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

During the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2016, a young Italian pianist aged 19 garnered a lot of attention. Alberto Ferro, already a laureate of many prizes, won the Audience Prize before winning one year later First Prize and Audience Prize at the International Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn. Especially limpid playing, both analytical and sensitive, served by faultless technique, this is what was so promising and it is confirmed with his first recording, one the young Sicilian devoted to Rachmaninov, one of his favorite composers. When writing his Etudes-Tableaux, Rachmaninov was already the composer of a consequential catalogue for solo piano; the writing for 'his' instrument had thus attained a very high level of sophistication and subtlety adding to an incomparable understanding of the instrument's powers of expression. The Russian master let slip very few indications concerning his sources of inspiration for these 17 miniatures, leaving it to the listener to work on his imagination! The virtuosity required for these albums is far from being an end in itself, it being rather the means of expression for the feelings to be expressed. These two albums are marked by the dazzling liveliness of this music at times virile and imperious, at times subtle and discreet, yet always at the service of an astonishingly broad palette of emotions.

Atomic Rooster - Atomic Rooster - Remastered & Expanded Edition - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This remastered edition of Atomic Rooster has been expanded to a two disc set to include the Live at The Marquee 1980 album, but also features a further 11 bonus tracks drawn from studio-out takes, demos and a rare single B-side. The set also includes a booklet with a new essay. Originally founded in 1969 by former Crazy World of Arthur Brown organist Vincent Crane, Atomic Rooster recorded five albums between 1969 & 1973 and enjoyed two hit singles with the tracks 'Tomorrow Night' and 'Devil's Answer' in 1970 and 1971 respectively. The band line-up varied from album to album, but it was generally recognised that the InchclassicInch line-up of the band featured Vincent Crane joined by John Du Cann (guitar, vocals) and Paul Hammond (drums) that existed between 1970 - 1971. Atomic Rooster finally disbanded in 1975, but in 1980 Vincent Crane and John Du Cann reformed the band to record a new album. The sessions featured Preston Heyman on drums and the album Atomic Rooster was released in September 1980. The album featured a muscular rock style and was well received. To promote the album the band undertook a tour which featured drummer Paul Hammond back in the ranks. A memorable concert at London's Marquee Club on 19th November 1980 was recorded and eventually released in 2002.
