Beak - Kosmik Musik - VINYL LP

This is the fourth Beak studio album, imaginatively titled . At it's core we always wanted it to be head music - listened to as an album, not as individual songs. This is why we are releasing this album with no singles or promo tracks. The recording and writing initially began in a house called Pen y Bryn in Talsarnau, Wales in the fallout from the weirdness of the COVID days. Remote and with only ourselves and the view of Portmeirion in the distance, we got to work. With the opening track, InchStrawberry LineInch (our tribute to our dear furry friend Alfie Barrow, who appears on the albums cover) as the metronomic guide for the album, we then resumed recording, as before, at Invada studios in Bristol, whilst still touring around Europe and North/South America. After playing hundreds of gigs and festivals over the years we felt that touring had started to influence our writing to the point we weren't sure who we were anymore. So we decided to go back to the origins of where we were at on our first album - with zero expectations and just playing together in a room. Hopefully we have achieved this.

Vinyl LP pressing. Is the long-awaited third album by acclaimed UK out-rock trio Beak comprised of Portishead's Geoff Barrow, Robert Plant bassist Billy Fuller and Will Young aka Moon Gangs. It follows-up their 2012 studio album, an alter ego split EP and the 2016 score for Couple In A Hole. #definitely sounds like a step forward and finds the band continuing to forge their own genre of oddness. The production and feel of the first two albums was like listening through frosted glass; a band playing behind a curtain. Now we hear Beak in sharp focus, but without forfeiting what the band see as it's 'wrongness'. This could be the result of having played bigger stages and festivals - something that was never part of the plan - or perhaps it is just a reaction to the infinite cut and paste fuzz pedal kraut bands on the planet. Full-color single-pocket jacket with matte varnish.

2024 . José James - the forward-looking, genre-defying Jazz singer for the hip-hop generation - has done it again. Inch1978Inch (his 12th studio album since 2008's InchThe Dreamer') announces an instant classic, combining James' deep love of jazz and hip-hop with songwriting and production nods to R&B heroes Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson and Leon Ware. Produced by James and featuring an all-star ensemble including Grammy nominees Pedrito Martinez (Camilla Cabello, Eric Clapton), Marcus Machado (Daniel Ceasar, Pharoahe Monch), Jharis Yokley (Sleigh Bells, My Brightest Diamond) Chad Selph (Bilal, FREELANCE) and David Ginyard (Solange, Blood Orange), Inch1978Inch pulsates with the socially conscious feel-good vibes of Marvin Gaye, Prince and Stevie Wonder. James also skillfully explores the boundaries of Black music, featuring Brazilian rising star and recent Latin Grammy nominee Xênia França as well as Congolese-Belgian rapper/filmmaker Baloji.
