About this product

Bill Fay has always sung about attempting to understand the most universal questions those of nature, spirituality, humanity. His songs are Inchcalming hymns for another chaotic timeInch, he says. His influence can be traced through many artist's work, and so it only seemed right to celebrate this with a collection of newer voices interpreting his timeless tracks. Originally released in 2010 by David Tibet (Current 93), Still Some Light was released as a double CD, made up of 70's album demos (Disc One) and 2009 home recordings (Disc Two). This year, for the first time, this collection of recordings will be pressed to vinyl and released digitally, presented alongside contemporary reimaginings of the tracks by Kevin Morby, Steve Gunn, Julia Jacklin and Mary Lattimore. Bill Fay's words and melodies remain unaffected by the passing of time and changing trends; and here alongside the original recordings, these reinvented versions still calmly guide us through another moment of chaos. Album Tracks 1. My Eyes Open (Still Some Light) 2. Solace Flies in (Still Some Light) 3. Long Way from Tipperary (Still Some Light) 4. All Must Have a Dream (Still Some Light) 5. War Machine (Still Some Light) 6. There Is a Valley (Still Some Light) 7. Road of Hope (Still Some Light) 8. Jericho Road (Still Some Light) 9. City of Dreams (Still Some Light) 10. Bill Fay - Life Is People - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Bill Fay is one of English music's best kept secrets. At the dawn of the 1970s, he was a one-man song factory, with a piano that spilled liquid gold and a voice every bit the equal of Ray Davies, John Lennon, early Bowie, or Procol Harum's Gary Brooker. He made two solo albums but his contract wasn't renewed, which left his LPs and his reputation to become cult items. But he never stopped writing, the music kept on coming. In his late sixties, he produced Life Is People, a studio album that shows his profoundly humanist vision is as strong as it ever was. Album Tracks 1. There Is a Valley 2. Big Painter 3. Never Ending Happening 4. This World 5. The Healing Day 6. City of Dreams 7. Be at Peace with Yourself 8. Jesus, Etc 9. Empires 10. Thank You Lord 11. Cosmic Concerto (Life Is People) 12. Black Mountain - Destroyer - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2019 from the Canadian rock band. Destroyer is structured around that first time behind the wheel of a hot rod. The fat, charging InchLiving After MidnightInch riffs of opener InchFuture ShadeInch is, according to band member Stephen McBean, 'Straight outta the gates. FM radio cranked.' He ain't kidding. The song, and all of Destroyer for that matter, seems to exist at that crucial nexus of the early-to-mid 80s Los Angeles when a war between punk and hair metal was waged. Black Flag's InchMy WarInch tried and failed to keep the peace. But in the trenches, some hybrid ghoul was beginning to form in bands like Jane's Addiction and White Zombie. Shacked up in his rehearsal space, McBean found an old chair in an alley, spray painted Producer on the back and pressed record. Friends from the endless rock'n'roll highway were invited over and 22 songs were brought to life. While some were laid back into shallow graves to dig up once again at a later date, the remaining skeletons were left above ground - given organs, skin, eyes, and the opportunity to grow their hair real long and greasy. Some of these zombie hesher jams were sent on a journey to Canada where longtime band member Jeremy Schmidt, slipping on the Official Collaborator satin jacket, had at them with his legendary synth arsenal. As he added long owing robes, sunglasses, driving gloves and medallions, the undead songs began to transform into the new breathing creatures that make up Destroyer. Schmidt's work with these songs turned out to be the transformative glue for this new era of Black Mountain. Album Tracks 1. Future Shade 2. Horns Arising 3. Closer to the Edge 4. High Rise 5. Pretty Little Lazies 6. Boogie Lover 7. Licensed to Drive 8. FD72
