I don't usually take time to write product reviews, but I had to this time.
I had never used a bidet before. I always thought bidets were over-the-top, and told myself there are plenty of other things I'd rather spend money on. My brother-in-law has one and kept telling me it was the best thing ever, but I thought he was trying to justify buying an expensive toilet seat. When we moved into our new home, he came to the housewarming party and said "The house is awesome...but you need a bidet" with a big grin. So I started thinking about it. I researched them for a couple of weeks, waited for the BioBidet DLS to go on sale, and pulled the trigger. I didn't have an outlet in the toilet room, so I had a contractor friend install the outlet and bidet seat. I know nothing about home improvement, so I watched him do it all. I still wouldn't trust myself to install an electrical outlet, but installing the bidet was a cakewalk. If you have a small wrench and can read instructions, you can do it. Installing the bidet itself took 20 mins tops, including testing everything (we put Saran Wrap over the seat to prevent a mess). Later that day, I did a "trial run" just sitting on the seat, and it was an eye-opening experience, to say the least. First of all, the seat was hot, so I quickly turned that off (but that will be nice in winter). Also, the water was much warmer than I expected, so I changed that setting. But once I got the settings to my liking, I started to think this bidet might actually be worth the money. The real test came the next morning after coffee...and what an experience! The bidet gives you a sense of clean like you just got out of the shower.
My wife had similar reservations about a bidet...until she used it. She had to adjust the settings to get the perfect "aim" and temperature, but now she thinks it was definitely worth the cost, and neither of us want to use a regular toilet anymore.
The BioBidet DLS *can* provide a totally hands-free experience, but I still use toilet paper to dry. If you wait for the dryer to completely dry you, you'll be sitting there a while.
Overall, we love the bidet and feel it was worth the investment, but there are a couple of things I'd suggest changing in the next model. The biggest letdown is no per-user settings. A bidet in this price range should have that feature, imo. BioBidet dropped the ball on that one.
Everything else is just nitpicks. I wish there was a way to completely mute the beeps. Every time you approach the toilet, you hear BEEP-BOOP, which is kinda cool at first, but gets annoying especially during the middle of the night. And speaking of the middle of the night, the built-in nightlight is great...for people who want a nightlight. But if you don't want a nightlight, you're still stuck with it (sorta). The remote has a light switch, but for whatever reason the light still flickers on for an instant, then goes off. I asked BioBidet about this, and the rep suggested the electrical outlet wasn't supplying enough power. I told her a licensed electrician installed a 20 amp outlet. She then suggested testing the bidet with another outlet using an extension cord (temporarily). I did that, and the light still flickered. Later, I noticed the light only flickers when I approach the toilet or move around near the toilet, so I think the flickering is linked to the motion sensor. Not a dealbreaker, but kinda annoying when I use the toilet in the middle of the night and the light flickers. Lastly, the remote should have illuminated labeling (or at least the option). Each setting has a status LED that changes blue/purple/red, but the button labels themselves are not illuminated. So if you want to change a setting in the dark, good luck doing that without turning on a light source.
Except for the lack of per-user settings, the BioBidet DLS has far surpassed my expectations. I can honestly say it is probably the best "splurge" money I've spent in a long time, and I plan to install bidets in all of our bathrooms. Remember the Charmin commercial that says "Enjoy the go!"...well a bidet will definitely make it a better experience :)
