InchOne of the most talented singer-songwriters in the Bay AreaInch (Hypebeast) makes his solo debut on the art-forward indie tag drink sum wtr with a risk-embracing LP that follows nearly a decade of distinct work in the contemporary pop landscape. He sees his style as a fusion of unexpected flairs R&B stirred up with rhythms drawn from yacht rock, sophisti-pop, dancehall, Al Jeel, Lovers Rock, and the tones of his Trinidadian roots. He pushes the sound outward in various directions on A Constant Charade, a dynamic collection marked by vulnerability and ambition. Themes touch on social cues, behavioral loops, and the ways we perform for others, Inchjust noticing how I feel when I'm around people,Inch he says. Whether I'm code switching or acting differently... we all do it, it's a charade.Inch With his signature croon and strongest arrangements to date, joined by a cast of collaborators and co-producers, Elujay cuts through the games to get real. Recorded in various locations over a three-year period, A Constant Charade caps a breakout 2025 that started with the second installment of GEMS IN THE CORNERSTORE from JEMS!, his dsw-signed project with J. Robb. Like GEMS, the new album leans further into the influences of Caribbean music and leftfield electronic from dance to ambient and a dozen strains in between. InchI think it's important to just notice that these people who you work with kind of give credence to new sounds that you find,Inch says Elujay. He credits much of Charade's nostalgic quality to Nicholas Creus, Inchhe's a jazz guitarist and huge fan of The Police and yacht rock, he's just all over this record.Inch As well as longtime collaborators Martin Rodrigues, Jaden Wiggins, and Ben Yasemsky, whom Elujay has known since childhood. Perhaps no other musical style has exerted a greater influence on the culture of the first half of the 20th century than Jazz. This utterly American music travelled to every corner of the globe From Shanghai to St. Petersburg; from New Orleans to New Dehli, from Harlem to well... Haarlem. While classical composers embraced the rhythmic vitality and melodic freedom of their own compositions, others sought to legitimize Jazz in the concert hall including Debussy, Stravinsky, Hindemith and Shostakovich and of course Edward Kennedy InchDukeInch Ellington.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2018 from the indie band. So many of life's struggles and successes can be traced back to communication good, bad, clear, muddled-finding real clarity with others, and yourself, isn't always as easy as it is essential. Sometimes it can feel like a battle to even know who you are, much less to know others and to help them know you in turn. On their sophomore full-length, Nothing Blues, Chicago's Typesetter use their distinctly vibrant brand of indie punk to explore that innately human desire for understanding, and how we achieve it. On Nothing Blues, Typesetter has adopted an expansive new spectrum of sound and emotion, marking a new chapter for the band. One where being vulnerable doesn't mean a lack of strength, where honesty isn't easy but is imperative, and where the most valuable thing is simply a willingness to keep striving for improvement.
