I am generally disappointed with the build quality of this dishwasher. 1. The door is very poorly constructed. It wobbles side to side and "twists" a bunch in both directions. I posted a photo of the two side positions it wobbles to and from. 2. The seal between the body and the door of the dishwasher interferes with the bottom sliding rack, so it hits it every time you try and slide the rack out. If you have utensils in the utensil bins, they also hit the seal and it's very, very annoying. 3. The bottom rack transitions to the door when sliding extremely poorly. If there are dishes in it, you have to lift it up and set the rollers onto the door in the open position. They don't slide smoothly between the two. I would return it if I could. I've had pre-owned craigslist dishwashers that are more solidly built than this.

So far this dishwasher has been nothing short of amazing. It's quiet enough so we don't hear it run overnight (our bedroom is directly above the kitchen), and when we're in the same room we aren't having to raise our voices to speak over its noise level. The only real noise is when it's draining, which is to be expected of any dishwasher. As far as cleaning goes, I've thrown everything I can think of at it while using the various washing cycles. The steam function is great when you have things that have been caked on for a few days before washing, such as forks coated with dried parmesan cheese. The third rack does a decent enough job for things that don't have anything caked on. I wouldn't recommend it for the aforementioned forks, but things that are put freshly used before washing will be cleaned well. The bottle jets are great and really do a good job of cleaning stubborn bottles. There hasn't been any need to pre-rinse any dishes before loading and running the dishwasher. The steam function works great to break up caked on food, so if you load as you go but don't run it until the dishwasher is full, this solves that issue. We do composting, so I can't speak to how the built in disposal works for large chunks of food. The app is very functional and does a great job explaining the cycles. One of the best features via the app is that you can set it to use only the top or the bottom rack when doing a load. That way, if you only want to fill half the dishwasher you can make sure it's only using water where needed instead. The reason for not getting 5 stars on cycle options is that some of the options, such as the top/bottom rack option, bottle jet, and silverware tray jets, only seem to be available via the app. In addition, the top controls don't do a great job explaining how to set them, and the documentation is lacking on some of the hidden options which bring it in parity with the app. If you don't want to use an app, I'd recommend looking into if you can access all the features you want via the control panel.

This dishwasher looks amazing in our kitchen with its matching line of appliances, though the appliances are a mixed bag ranging from Poor to Good. Check out the reviews, compare to LG, and think long and hard about going for aesthetic over quality and function with this GE line. I have been a big fan of GE and Cafe in particular for years, but this product line has given me tremendous pause and made me question why GE's quality is so significantly eroded. The dishwasher does a good job of cleaning dishes and holds a fair amount. It is fairly quiet, though if I am in the kitchen I find myself wondering if it is raining. The product looks expensive, but feels cheap. The doo feels flimsy and never feel like it is actually closed. Unlike past GE units that provided a satisfying weight and thump on closing, this door feels almost like plastic and never feels closed. Furthermore, the top rack broke after about 3 months of use. GE did replace the rack, which I appreciated. The controls are logical and easy to use. Overall, if you want the aesthetic the machine is adequate, but if you are accustomed to higher end quality like Cafe usually provides, look elsewhere.
