  • General
    • Brand: Canon
    • Model Number: 4728C006
    • Product Name: EOS M50 Mark II Mirrorless Camera with EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Zoom Lens
    • Color: Black
    • Product Set: w/ 15-45mm Lens
    • Digital Camera Type: Mirrorless Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 6000 x 4000 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: None (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • In-Camera Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. In-camera stabilization means the image sensor itself moves to counteract detected motion.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): false (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/4000 - 30 sec. (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: f/40 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: f/3.5 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Minimum ISO: 100 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. When there is plenty of light, using the lowest ISO setting available will typically result in a higher quality image.)
    • Maximum ISO: 25600 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. In low-light environments, using a higher ISO setting helps to capture a sharp, bright image.)
    • Maximum Expandable ISO: 51200 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. Expandable ISO settings use software to simulate brighter images than the device's native ISO range is capable of capturing.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 10 seconds, 2 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: Single shooting, Continuous shooting (High-speed continuous shooting, low-speed continuous shooting) (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • White Balance Modes: Auto; Daylight; Shade; Cloudy; Tungsten light; White fluorescent light; Flash; Color temperature; Custom WB (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 24.1 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Canon EF-M, Canon EF-S, Canon EF
    • Lens Type: Standard Zoom
    • Minimum Focal Length: 15 millimeters (The minimum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The shorter the focal length, the greater the area of scene captured.)
    • Maximum Focal Length: 45 millimeters (The maximum distance between the lens and the image sensor that allows the subject to be in focus. The greater the focal length, the smaller the area of scene captured.)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)

Q: I have a canon DSLR and I am wondering will the lenses from my DSLR fit on this camera?

A: They indeed will fit. You will need a Canon lens adapter (about $190) to accommodate your EF lenses on the M50 Mark II.

Q: Will this camera be good for pictures of my kids on sports, ie football, baseball, track, cheerleading. Can I zoom in with this camera from sitting in the stands or do I need an additional lens?

A: You will definitely need a much bigger mm lens for log distance closeups. You can get the shots with this camera and lens, but it’ll be far away. I recommend the 55-250mm or the 55-300mm if you plan on zooming in to see their faces or hitting/catching that sporting object, this is an excellent camera. You can even pair it with your phone and automatically save all your photos to your phone, where you can easily download to your computer or send straight to your printer or both. The third photo below shows the most it zooms with the lens contained in this package. This was taken at a distance of approximately 20-25ft.

Q: Hey, 1. What's the difference between the Canon M50 and the M50 Mark II? 2. I understand the M50 will only record 29.59 minutes. Will the Mark II record unlimited for e.g. hour+ church services, etc. without interruption? 3. Take pics while recording?

A: 1. The Mark II has better auto focus, vertical recording, and clean hdmi output (doesn't show the settings that you would see on the back screen), along with slightly better battery life. 2. No. Canon has a hard limit of 29.59 for all their cameras (the new R3 is the only camera so far that has the limit removed). If you want to record longer than 29.59 with the m50, you'll have to use an external recorder. 3. Is not possible to take pictures while recording. About the only way to do that is to take the video and pull out a frame of it with video editing software.

Q: Can it record in 4K?

A: Yes it will do 4k however, it will be cropped and it uses contrast focusing vs double pixel focusing. You should look at a M6 Mark II, for full 4k recording @29-ish fps.

Q: What does it come with?

A: Its comes with the camera body, 15-45mm lens, 1 battery, 1 charger, and Canon Strap.

Q: Can this camera record longer than 30min and if so how long can this camera record for without any adjustments to it?

A: I use this camera for YouTube and I’ve had it record for over a half hour easily. The only thing you’ll need to watch, is the battery life. But you can buy a battery that plugs into the wall, so you don’t have to worry about that. Also make sure your SD card has plenty or storage and is formatted.
