Q: What is this used for? And if I'm buying my first camera, do I need this? Thank You!
A: This is used to adapt eos lenses to the EOS M camera. The M-50 for example cannot use lenses from a lot of other cannon cameras like the T series. The EOS M is smaller and this adapter takes those lenses and allows them to be compatible with this camera. I bought it and am glad I did. There are cheaper, third part options, but they often do not allow the camera to auto focus. So I payed the money for this one to make sure I could use those lenses well :)
A: Yes it will I bought it for that exact same reason
A: No. The RF lenses will only work on R series cameras. They aren't backwards compatible.
