A: I hope someone answered you by now, but the setting is in the camera. You have to extend the display to HDMI it is a setting/configuration. Canon has it defaulted to off.
A: no it is only the camera. the microphone on the camera is just behind the lens. on the best buy photo you can sort of see a white line on the top and a bunch of holes, that's the only microphone that comes with it.

Excellent product
We had the XA25 for YEARS before upgrading to the XA60. There are a lot of improvements and the overall quality is amazing! It seamlessly connects to my wireless microphones and makes it easier to use for everything we need it for!
