Cleveland Orchestra / Welser-Most,Franz - Schubert: Symphony No.9 - SUPER-AUDIO CD [Super Audio CD (SACD)]

?This is not the ninth 5th, but still the fifth 9th symphony by András Keller with Concerto Budapest on TACET! After Bruckner, Dvorák, Shostakovich and Schubert (it now counts as the 8th), now Mahler. An impressive testament to the range of this unusual orchestra and it's unique conductor. Certainly there are countless other recordings, also very good, of these last finished symphonies of great composers. However, I find that Keller's interpretations, with his unconditional will to express in detail, can compete with any, even the best known. Recordings of that repertoire in TACET Real SS are completely new. They bring to light previously hidden beauties and place the listener in the middle of the music. This also allows you to hear these works in a completely new way.

The third album on The Cleveland Orchestra's tag follows the 'old-new' pairing of their previous , showcasing recordings of Prokofiev and Schnittke that cover both preand post-pandemic music-making. Prokofiev's Symphony No.2 is a beautiful and exquisitely fashioned gem, inspired by the early 20th century's fascination with mechanics and industry, and the everchanging world during that era. Franz Welser-Möst sees the work as Incha fascinating examination both of the World War itself and a reflection on how it changed people's views. This is a far-sighted view of Modernity, and shows us an Expressionist spirit that is still deeply moving - and disturbing - today.Inch Schnittke's Concerto for Piano and Strings, featuring pianist Yefim Bronfman with the orchestra's strings, was recorded at Cleveland's Severance Hall, during the midst of Covid-19 restrictions, as part of the orchestra's new In Focus digital broadcast series.

Systematic Death need no introduction to fans of the classic Japanese hardcore mayhem that has erupted from that country since punk first found it's footing there in the 80's. Straight out of the gate, from their first self-released EP in 1984, through their next blistering EP's on legendary early Japanese hardcore labels Hold Up and Selfish Records, culminating in the ultra-classic InchFinal InsiderInch LP released in 1987, this band has set the standard for Japanese thrash ever since. This new brings 5 new classics. Unmatched in speed and intensity, and screaming with anger and hope, Systema Eleven shows SYTEMATIC DEATH still wreaking havoc, and forever a force to be reckoned with.
