Garbage not worth owning
Don't know what the other reviewers are getting. Not what I got. The minimal, insufficient instructions, also don't match how the unit works. For starters it was stuck in 720P mode, not 1080, and I couldn't get it to change. The instructions, box etc. say nothing about a 720 mode. And yes even viewed right off the memory card it was 1280x720 video. The Mic can be turned on and off, though in either condition it never recorded any sound. Still pictures of 5 or 12 megapixel, though my unit was stuck in 5meg and wouldn't change. And don't know what is going on, but in video or still pics, the color balance is way, way off. That is true both for the built in screen and viewing the memory card on a computer monitor. Further they are doing something funky. Fine details were captured almost right, but color details were blended together in a much lower resolution. For instance a flannel shirt I had with strong patterns just showed an even gray. My hand was a light blue skin tone.
Viewing video while driving, it often wouldn't show enough detail to read speed limit signs or interstate lane signs. Pretty poor resolution. And it would just stop recording for no particular reason at times. Hardly confidence inspiring performance.
Maybe I got a bum unit. But based upon what I got, insufficient instructions, modes not mentioned in the instructions, buttons don't do what instructions say they will, video and photos of very poor quality, and no sound under any conditions I could manage. Other than the idea of a good dash cam, and some very low rez video, pretty much not worth having whatsoever. I suggest you look elsewhere for a dash cam.
