A: Like all power inverters, the Cobra Pure Sine 400 Watt power inverter will draw some power to operate the internal electronics while it's ON but there is no active load connected to the AC outlet. If the inverter is powered from a solar power source (battery + solar panels etc.) the parasitic current draw (when not used to power an AC device) from the inverter should be factored into your battery capacity budget. The standby or parasitic current draw from the inverter is stated in the user manual but for greater accuracy consider measuring the current draw with a good digital Volt meter (DVM).
Q: Will this invertor charge 18v cordless tool batteries?
A: The Cobra PURE SINE 400 W inverter should be able to power the cordless tool battery charger provided the battery charger AC input power requirements do not exceed the inverter output power capabilities. To confirm this, check the battery charger specification label for AC input requirements. If less than 400W then plug it into the inverter and enjoy!
