About this product

Commitment is an inevitability. Guitarist Jake Smith and drummer Pierce Jordan knew each other for years as friends and musicians in Philadelphia who desired to explore a more straightforward and hard-hitting sound as songwriters in positions they'd played in the past, but never together. Smith and Jordan spent months playing together and getting a feel for each other's styles and viewpoints, specifically not making choices about a name or which influences to prioritize until the lineup was complete. As plain as it is that Commitment is about creating a pathway to new experiences, it's also about strengthening existing relationships. For the band, Smith dragged his lifelong friend Zach Bailey out of rock n' roll retirement to take up bass guitar. While not wanting to make any immediate decisions about other members, Smith and Jordan knew they wanted someone who had never played in a band before. A newcomer in any position results in a fresh perspective and approach, and at the front of a band typically includes a raw energy that often can't be reproduced. They found this in Tati Salazar. Tati had mainly existed as a solo musician under the name The Childlike Empress (now known as Le Siren) and had built a significant listenership doing so. True as can be to the world of music, but new to singing in a hardcore punk band, Tati jumped in feet first, fitting in so naturally as the band's vocalist that the rest of the band initially struggled to practice or even correctly perceive their new material without them.

XTC as Dukes of the Stratosphere - 25 O'Clock - VINYL LP

Limited 200gm vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered from XTC's Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, and Dave Gregory masquerading as 'lost 60s psych band called The Dukes of Stratosphear. This 1985 mini-album was produced by John Leckie (Swami Anand Nagara) and The Dukes. The story is a familiar one. XTC, as a non-touring band, between the recording/ of The Big Express and Skylarking, adopted the alter egos of The Dukes of Stratosphear and set about writing and recording 25 O'Clock, partying like it was 1967 and stereo phasing had just been popularized. With a clutch of songs as tuneful as Sgt. Pepper's, guitars cranked up like a Kinks Pye b-side, the collective knowledge of a bunch of psych's keenest fanboys and the engineering skills of John Leckie... The resulting album sits somewhere in the pantheon of greatness between Evolution, Their Satanic Majesties Request and S. F. Sorrow.

Fears - Oa-che - VINYL LP

Oíche, the debut album from Fears, available 7th May 2021. Pieced together over five years, Oíche chronicles growth through challenges, instability, and relationship changes, both with one's self and others. The album reveals itself much like a coming of age novel about the breaking apart of girlhood and rebuilding of a young woman. An intimate depiction of discovery, Oíche unearths internal dialogue, and makes peace with uncertainty. Oíche, meaning 'night' in Irish, was recorded in three bedrooms, hospital, and the Domino Recordings studio in Brixton. Fears is London-based Irish artist Constance Keane. Combining reflective electronics, acoustic samples, and haunting vocals with organic visuals, Fears invites the listener on an ethereal journey, blurring the boundaries between music and visual art. Her minimalist approach centres on emotive subjects, which are all-at-once deeply personal yet remarkably universal. Oíche is the first on TULLE, run by and for exceptional women.LP A1. h_alwaysA2.
