When you purchased the unit, you may have noticed on the box that the UPS has specific performance limits. On the box in which your UPS came, you should note some estimates of battery runtimes. A higher WATTS UPS provides longer estimated runtimes than a lower WATTS UPS. BUT IN ADDITION TO THAT FACTOR, WHAT EQUIPMENT YOU HAVE PLUGGED INTO THE BATTERY/SURGE OUTLETS OF THE UPS REALLY DOES AFFECT THE RUNTIME. That beep is your money working for you. IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU KNOW HOW MUCH SAFETY TIME THAT YOU BOUGHT ONCE THE BEEP STARTS. So find the box or go online to your UPS manufacturer website and see how long your manufacturer estimates that you may have FOR YOUR EXACT MODEL. AND CONSERVATIVELY, you probably ought to think of only a bit more than HALF of their estimated runtime in which to protect your wallet.
